I can remember going to Skags Albertsons on a Sunday and shelves with non food items had plastic sheets to make it hard to get an item. You could buy food and medicine but nothing else. This was in LA many decades ago.

The ABC stores in my part of NC are not opened on Sunday but we can buy beer and wine at the grocery store. Seems like there is a time limit though. Maybe 11:00 or 12:00? It used to be later on Sunday but the law was changed to allow beer sales at the NFL games in Charolotte.

Sunday beer, was beer that we bought on Saturday for drinking on Sunday. Not to be confused with Saturday beer, for fear of running short on Sunday.

i bought 5 acres in the middle of nowhere and put a new house up 125' from a side lot line. Shortly after that I saw some lots next to me were up for sale but I figured I had enough land.

A year later someone built on a 2 acre lot adjacent to me.

A month later he put a dog kennel right on our lot-line nearest my house. He subsequently got the noisiest dog I ever heard. I think it was a German Shorthair. The dog would bark all day and all night. He barked so much I don't think he ever had time to sleep.

He would wake us up, even though the thermo-pane windows were closed. And he would bark all day long.

I never did but was very close to just blasting the dog. But, I am way to easy going so I let it go for years and years. I don't remember when it stopped, maybe when we finally moved.

I just don't understand why round bellied middle aged men, and women, on a Harley get a free pass on noise emissions. The same amount of noise from a 16 year old kid with a noisy, or missing, muffler seems to get the attention of law enforcement for some reason.

I guess I've just looked at Sunday as another weekend day, but I'm old enough to remember when it was a day of rest and everything was closed. There was also no hunting on Sundays back then (in Massachusetts anyway).

However, regardless of what day of the week, I refrain from making much noise before 8am or around and after dinner time. I'm up early, so I don't care if neighbors make noise early in the mornings.

I have one neighbor that chooses to mow his lawn from dinner until dark. It kind of irks me when the wife and I sit out on our patio in the evening. I remember growing up that my dad would jump my butt if I tried mowing the lawn around dinner time.

Yeah, our liquor stores are closed on Sundays, holidays and election days. You can still buy 3.2 beer in the grocery stores though.

We can't buy carry-out liquor on election day until after the poles close. But as I said, order that cheeseburger and you can get hammered all day long! :confused2:

We live near the airport here. When Notre Dame is losing on a Saturday the private jets start leaving town after the 3rd quarter. If they are winning, they don't leave until Sunday morning. :laughing:

Around here, they encourage you to mow in the evening as the car traffic has subsided and the air quality won't be as bad. Actually, our air quality isn't all that bad. Its the counties to the west of us whose air drifts over us that causes most of our air issues. And its mostly on the hottest days of the year. Also, in summer, it doesn't get dark until almost 10:00pm. Yikes!

I agree with you, but I'd have to write a book to explain that.:laughing: You have no idea how much political pull Harley Davidson has had for many many years in this country.
