What's going on at Amazon?

Looks like Prime has gone up to $130+ a year or $10.99 per month. That's down right ridiculous. It ain't that good. I was ready to try it out for while but not at that price. I guess I'll go back to Ebay.

I just checked mine and it's still 99 a year or 10.99 a month. I don't use the movies and music stuff either.
But shopping and kindle books have made it a good deal for me as most of my shopping is online now.

I'm a Primer member, have been for years. We don't use the streaming video very much, but my wife does download several of their free books. I keep it mostly so that I can order a $5 item that I need fairly fast and not have to pay postage. Makes a big difference here when the closest town with any decent shopping is over 45 minutes away. Too much time and gasoline to make it economical to run down and pick up cheap items.
I haven't left the house in 3 years to do any Christmas shopping, I just order it from Amazon and let UPS or FedEx bring it to me. That alone is pretty much worth the Prime fee to me.

I have found a couple of things on Amazon that were less than I could find on ebay and some offer free shipping at the advertised price. I ordered a couple of cameras and sd cards a while back. The cameras were shipped from FL to ATL then paced with the sd cards and shipped back to FL in a single box with PRIME tape on it. Go Figure? Also bought a couple packs of two 100w H3 bulbs for the work lights on my backhoe that were cheaper than ebay and included free shipping. The products shipped by or fulfilled by Amazon almost always arrive slower than those sold and fulfilled by independent merchants in my case. BUT sometimes they come fast with a PRIME wrapper even though I'm not a PRIME member. Just never know how it will go in any case.

Prime is only $130/yr if you do 12 months worth of the month to month contract. If you prepay for a full year it is $99/mo. They usually run a $79 special this time of year.

I gave up on Amazon a couple of years ago and moved most of my business to EBay. Much better service and better prices too. Before moving along I'd sent Amazon several emails about their sag in service. lost and unfulfilled orders, higher prices etc. but apparently they just don't give a squat. They are too busy taking peoples money just for being a customer though their Prime program. It'll be a cold day in hades before I pay anyone just to do business with them. DUH!! I might be crazy but I'm certainly not stupid.

Sometime the bigger they get the more they charge.. Many people get comfortable with a place and don't shop price any more.
Then, they reap the profits.

Last month when I bought my 21' of Selkirk chimney pipe+one roof top flashing, I was all ready to click buy on Amazon til I notice the shipping charge, so I went online at Lowes, the same chimney pipe was $100.00 cheaper and if something was wrong, I could just take it back to the store, not to mention I got it in 4 days,...........to be fair Amazon was cheaper then ebay on that.

When I looked, there was no option for a year pre-pay. The only option was 10.99/month and that adds up to $131.88 a year!

Ok, I found it after a few clicks. $79 would have been good but they canceled my order for it on Friday. $99 is not worth it. :thumbdown:
