Haha I was thinking the same!

Also had a little crisis about the air compressor too. But the reality is I never use air tools. And the compressor runs a little while & shuts off (not like a generator). However if I HAD some tubing in my possession this morning, it would go in the trench!! Gonna cover it up by noon today. (snow tonite!!

What I have is Romex 10-2 & 12-2. My 12v pair is stranded THHN 10ga. For signal all I have is telephone cable 24ga. Why THHN ? (Thermoplastic High Heat Nylon). I'm doing my best to seal it but its like a level bucket. Seems like it could fill with water and remain full forever. I've been more worried about water than heat. (THWN Thermoplastic Heat Water resistant Nylon). Any ideas how to drain a level conduit with up-ends?

THHN will hold up to moisture quite well Romex will not. Next if you are running full power from the genset you should be using #8 or #6 sized wire. I would use #14 THHN for the low voltage wiring for the start/stop circuit. For the led lighting why not run it off the genset battery? If all else fails a good flashlight would be better for trouble shooting problems in the dark, you can aim it where needed.

If it were my project I would wait for the next trip and have the right materials on hand.

I run Air line everywhere. Makes for a nice reservoir of air. Recently I used 3/4 or 1" 200 PSI tubing, got off craigs list.

Do those BTU numbers account for much of the heat going out in the exhaust?

The exhaust gases are about half of the total heat loss calculation and are included. In this case the exhaust is not leaving the box on its own tailpipe.

I have a bank of 12v batteries in my shop. Prob better if the lighting is not related to the generator. Tomorrow it snows, and Turkey-day forecast is for 8 inches more. Today is the day to get this done or it's all winter with an extension cord under the snow, and the door held open by the cord. NOT this winter!

I think it will be fine - most folks just run the dang thing outside their shop door and listen to it. Neighbors too. :muttering:

You should be able to pull new wire later through the conduit later when needed. Not hard to do with two 90 sweeps.
