I have a request!

I am looking to drain the water/change the filter on the fuel system on my 2810. I assumer it is probably pretty similar. On the pump, there looks to be some sort of bleeder to drain the air from the lines, but I am not completely sure of that. Can you confirm the process?

Also, I have the tear down manual for the 2004ish 2310 and 2810. IF anyone needs scanned pages or specific data, let me know.

Wow, I'm really late on this! Not sure why I didn't get the email notification...

Anyways...

Mine has a round bleeder knob just above the fuel shutoff solenoid (just behind mid engine on passenger side) that you open (CCW) to bleed air through the system as you crank and run the engine. Once it is running smoothly, close it (CW) and that's it.

I've found it to be helpful to pre-fill the fuel bowl (aka "Cup"), even leaving it a bit loose until fuel starts to run out of the top, then tighten it....all BEFORE any cranking. Might take 10 mins to fill if you don't prefill it?

The manuals I have are 3510-4110.

Here's a pic, group 16.

Interestingly, I just had to look up the cup and give the part number to a local dealer. Mine broke :(

Driving along, stalls. Lug can to add fuel, see it dripping on ground, coming from bowl area. Upon closer inspection, the bowl is about 60% separated from the lip

I filled the bowl a few times with the bleeder valve open, getting about 20 feet or so each time, until I could get it off the road. Cleaning up after last days' flooding left big ruts in the gravel driveway, gravel on the road.

In case you didn't try it yet, simply unscrew the super-Hercules-tightened ring nut at the top of the plastic bowl (driver's side towards passenger's side direction to loosen), remove and dump the bowl.

Do NOT throw the spring into the snow covered weeds with the water and diesel mix. You'll never see it again. Ask me how I know, LOL.

BTW, that little filter element isn't much of one and will plug and freeze up pretty quickly. Be careful about your fuel.

I'm considering changing that system to something larger with a readily available filter, maybe a drain on the bottom.

Does anyone have an update on this?

Mahindra should install a link on their web site so that owners can download pdf copies of the operators manuals. Not the service maintenance manuals but the operators manuals. It's good PR and it's the right thing to do.

If anyone has some pull with them it would be appreciated if they contact Mahindra and get them working on this.

I sent them an email for what it's worth....

No reason not to put service info up on the web too. First thing to do is to figure out if they are in the tractor selling business or crummy book selling business then stick to their knitting.

Problem is the dealer network. They want their fingers in the pie and they want their cut - or pound of flesh depending on your viewpoint.....

You would think that the operators manuals at least would be an exception - just from a safety standpoint. You would also think the feds would require those to be available to all owners free of charge for that reason alone.

But that would apply in a perfect world......

Like I said the point is to sell tractors not all the other crap like crummy books, hats and tee shirts. Stick to your knitting and keep your eye on the ball and you'll succeed. Selling service manuals ain't ever gonna pay the rent. They already have most of the info anyway, otherwise the tractor could not be built. Anyone who's manufactured anything can tell you that much. Word of mouth from happy customers is the very best marketing that can be had and the cost is probably the least, all while bad mouth from existing customers can cost you ten times what you'd spend in marketing efforts to attract one new one. Keeping customers happy is just good business practice if not the best business practice, this much I know from personal experence. Something called being penny wise and pound foolish applies.

There seem to be mixed reviews about the Mahindra factory service manuals.
Is there one for the new 5500 series that covers the 4WD 5555? Is it worth the money?

My new 2016 3550 PST Service Manual is quite mixed and hard to read. It does have more info than Owners manual. However does not contain necessary Diagnostic information (Manufacturer defined TDCodes) which owners need to confirm and approve service issues the ECU and ECM require, (eg. Limp mode status issues) Thus my request for a Diagnostic Manual.

When EPA implemented standardization requirements for OBD systems on Ag Diesel tractors they also mandated Manufacturers make available all manufacturer defined ECU - ECM Trouble Diagnostic Codes to use with a universal scan tool, which is available to anyone-not just manufacturer's repair facilities. Thus my request for a Diagnostic manual for my tractor.

To answer your question: Yes for me, it is always worth the money to obtain all manuals necessary for the proper and safe operation of all equipment I own and maintain.
