And to think.....the guy in the car grew up to be a Trump supporter.........
Sorry JB... he is a democrat. If you would have listened, he said he was looking forward to going home to listen to Clinton's acceptance speech. At least that was heard... he is one of your clan!

Not a case of being against authority. It's a case of being against abuse of authority.
Police have no more rights than the average citizen

Do you sincerely believe that?

Every American should not only believe that, but be outraged at any sign of it not being lived out in our society.

that's right. If he knew the laws he could talk to some cops to see how well they are versed in the laws where he lives. Here, many cops don't even know the laws they are hired to enforce.
I can site many of the state gun laws here, and the cops have no clue as to what I'm speaking about
The last time I got stopped with rifles in the car, the LEO asked me what the pertinent MA law was! There were three grades of license and the rules differed depending on which one you had, and whether the rifle was 滴igh Capacity. The gun laws here are so complicated LEO often assume you have political connections.

Turns out he壇 been on a rifle team in the 82nd ABN, so we chatted a while and he let me go with a warning, which was cool since I passed him doing 81 in a 55.

We had our kids watch this. I don稚 necessarily agree with all the points. FWIW we have many relatives and friends in law enforcement, many of whom agree with a lot of what he says.

FWIW, talk to your attorney before describing in any way in posts here or elsewhere what actions you might take in an armed confrontation. You do not want to have statements anywhere that might be cast as premeditation. I doubt anyone here would use lethal force except to defend themselves in the gravest danger.

Never, ever, offer more information than querried by ANY interviewing Officer.

Thereby, changing the interview to an interrogation.

If you are asked to exit the vehicle is the perfect time to inform the officer of the presence of a weapon inside the vehicle.

THEN!! Ask him or her how they would like to proceed.

Then shut up. Your rights may or may not be explained to you at that point.

Depending, again, on that little piece of paper/card you gave him/her earlier.

They have a family at home just like you do and would love nothing more than to go home to them.

Right after they get done explaining to some nimrod at the side of the road.... Weapon's Ettiquette.

If you were put in a position of armed confrontation, and you were in fear for you life, the outcome is pretty simple. You neutralize them or they neutralize you. The key IMO is not what actions you would take in a armed confrontation, but how you're able to show you tried at all cost to AVOID that armed confrontation.

Over the years I have had my share of tickets, some well deserved some not.
One that will burn me forever is when I pulled over (and had to cross a red light) which I did with great caution as an ambulance was hooting and bleeping for me to move over.
What I did not know was a LEO was nearby and that cost me a serious ticket (and points).
I will tell you that I now NEVER move for any siren or any emergency vehicle !

Nor does my wife as when she once did the emergency vehicle clipped her fender and guess who paid. (we have 'no fault here' which means you pay to fix yours and he pays for his. (Fire truck bumpers don't even get a scratch but a Nissan fenders can't take it)

An attorney confirmed that LEO's and other emergency vehicles are ruled by the same laws as other vehicles but are 'tolerated'.
I recently learned that postal vehicles also enjoy the special tolerances.
Shucks even an off duty volunteer fireman enjoys those privileges. (perhaps not in all jurisdictions but for sure in my neck of the woods)

Nope, whoop, holler, play siren all U want, I don't move any more!
i have seen a fire truck push a vehicle that would not move out of the way

Some of you guys could really benefit from joining a citizens Police academy, or trying to go on a ride-along with a patrol officer working a busy beat near you. You might learn a new appreciation for what their lives, and jobs, are actually like... And how/why decisions are made the way they are.

Not like it hasn't already been said a number of times in this thread... But i still haven't seen any of you clowns signing up for the Police academy so you can show the profession how you're apparently the long awaited Messiah of Law Enforcement, here to bring balance to the Police Force.

Good God, some of you are so arrogant to think you really know more about how anyone should do their jobs than the professionals that are already doing it. Put your money where your mouths are and go join up. Or will you just continue to sit there like a coward and squak about the men of action actually doing something out there.

Shame...

Yup... You are right, because I haven't done the job, I can't understand why it's ok for police officers to violate the law, lie to the public, and ignore other officers doing the same.
I don't understand the public thinking an officer might be wrong if he only does bad things 10 min out of each week. After all, he didn't do anything wrong the other 6 days of the week.

Here, there are no Gun laws with regard to how to carry long guns. I can have as many long guns in my vehicle as I can carry, loaded or unloaded. I just can't carry a loaded piston in my vehicle without a permit.

We (the people) have been trying to get the pistol permit law changed. Each county is allowed to charge what ever they want for a pistol permit. It is pretty much a slush fund for the Sheriff of each county within the state to do what ever they want with permit money. They don't have to account for one cent !

In NC, you're WAY better off getting a NC conceal carry permit. Total invested around $200 ($100 or so training class, $90 or so to the sheriff).

BIGGEST advantage is once you have your conceal carry permit, no permit needed to buy a handgun. Just go in, show them the conceal carry permit with drivers license, but whatever and how many you want.

Conceal carry permit good for 5 years, then have to renew, at this point, no training needed after you get your first CC permit.

When I first moved to NC, lived a county over. Went in for like my 3rd or 4th permit (to buy a handgun) then they changed the rule at the sheriffs department as they wanted EVERY address/state you EVER lived in your entire life. I must of lived in 7 different states as an working civilian adult after college before moving to NC, and there is NO WAY I could EVER of filled that out accurately. Glad I moved a county over and got the carry permit.
