Nice work on the repair

As I read through these pages, I'm thinking this doesn't sound like good advertisement for HST model tractors, so is this tractor back together or just in process of being put together.....

This was worth re-posting:)
Really is a lot of work to get to the clutch! Put the two parts together last night which went incredibly easy!
Hope everything’s right and tight!

I don't use Locktite on these bolts. Properly lubricated and torqued, yes.

I also use MoS2 grease on the TO bearing and splines, plus the pilot bearing. They do not generally
need re-lubing.

I have used OEM Kubota orange (old orange and new orange), but anything close
in color will do, IMO, like Rustoleum. Your older paint is faded somewhat anyway.

If you have not assembled everything yet, it is easy to open up the charge pump and
see if it is worn. Mine was, so I replaced it. Wear is due to dirty oil.
Thanks for the info. Can you tell anything by just opening the pump, or should it be tested? The pump is the one behind the fuel filter correct?

At this stage I’m trying to get all the hydraulic lines in place and readying the chassis of the tractor for a coat of gray paint.all orange parts are off.

Anyone know if I plug the FEL lines if I could start the tractor?

Too late now, but the charge pump is on the front of the HST, as I noted above. I replaced
mine cuz it had visible scoring inside. With HSTs, pressure tests are really important, but they
can only be done on a tractor that runs and has a working clutch.

Yeah missed that one.

Few months back I ran over a large rock that fell out of my bucket. Turns out it bent the hydraulic oil tank bottom. So today I straightened it. It was dented in about 3/4 of an inch at its worst spot which happened to be at the drain plug. 63E6D84D-9C02-445B-B4AD-50BA88DF1833.jpeg7799EDBC-5E90-42EF-A040-AF0A7E262881.jpegDCFF93CE-D25F-4569-896D-3E8A09A9D590.jpeg39A690F5-A8E8-49B4-BE63-C1EF5FE08265.jpegEA118436-D202-4EBF-AB07-495BD8AE9CCA.jpegEC15FF35-E406-4B81-8760-576B86EC6634.jpeg

Cleaned the tank and strainer while doing so. No large pieces of any kind in the tank just a film of gray on the bottom. Nothing real bad.

Can I cap off the FEL lines and start the tractor without damaging anything? I’d like to test and move the tractor out of the garage and get the FEL in to straighten the frame.

No.

The in to the loader and power beyond need to be connected so there's a path for the hydraulic oil. If you cap them you will damage the hydraulic pump.

From the hydraulic circuit diagram, it appears there is a hydraulic control screw and hydraulic selector valve at the hydraulic block, when if set allows you to bypass the FEL and to send the oil directly to the tank , just as if you don't have a FEL connected.

No, I just read a lot of manuals..........
Most tractors come with the option of a valve to add a FEL or other hydraulic implement so it generally a simple thing of utilizing the valve. Generally, all the valve does is send the oil to the addition/s first, then back again to the original circuit. The screw valve directs the oil to the FEL and hoe circuit. You have removed hoe I expect so isolating it will just send flow to 3pt using the selector valve. The selector valve for the hoe/3pt is another thing, that's why it's accessible with the lever to change over when you swap from hoe to 3pt, when using hoe, flow is directed to tank, when selector valve is changed it goes thru 3pt valve. Pic is from wsm.

Correct hoe is off. So it looks like I put the level of select valve in PTO position and control screw in position A and I should be fine.
