A lawyer confirmed to me that ALL vehicles have to obey stops and red lights.
The difference is that LEO's and emergency vehicles are tolerated and there is no tolerance for a civilian even on a totally deserted highway.
Its the LAW!

It may be the law in your location, but it is not the law everywhere. From the Ohio Revised Code:

4511.03 Emergency vehicles at red signal or stop sign.
(A) The driver of any emergency vehicle or public safety vehicle, when responding to an emergency call, upon approaching a red or stop signal or any stop sign shall slow down as necessary for safety to traffic, but may proceed cautiously past such red or stop sign or signal with due regard for the safety of all persons using the street or highway.

There is a another large section of state law (4511.041) exempting emergency or public safety vehicles from 40 other sections of state law.

I know that's the case in several states in which I have lived, and I would be very surprised if that is NOT the case in every one of the United States (all 57 of them), D.C., and the various territories.

In fact, I suspect that's the case in Canada, too, and that lawyer simply didn't know what he was talking about.

Getting it back will be hard especially with cellphone cams & body cams, etc.

Yeah, I can tell from your previous posts that you always give respect to LEOs and that you teach your kids to do so also.

As to how, have you expressed to your LEO friends your feelings about bad LEOs and that you hold them responsible for that? Have you expressed to them that it's okay for you to have bad habits and bad character but it's not okay for them? Have you told them that you hold them to a higher standard than you do yourself? How did that go? Maybe suggest to one of them that you'd like for them to join in this conversation and help them sign up here on TBN and then guide them to this thread?

ANY police officer that has you pulled over on the side of the road has authority over you be it you like it or not.

Ultimately, it makes NO sense to be disrespectful to ANY officer who is in your presence acting in an offical capacity.

As I stated, which went over your head, to get respect, you need to give respect.

Guys I shoot with who are LEO's know exactly how I feel. You got good cops, you got bad cops. You have good civies and you have bad civies. It all starts with respect going both ways. The guys I shoot with (who are LEO's) I like NOT because they're cops, I like them because they seem like good people and we have something in common.

Thus, my boys are REALLY taught to give respect. That said, you still need to know your rights when the police are dealing with you in any official capacity. That is NOT showing a lack or respect, that's just using common sense.

I figured it must of.

I'll mention the thread to some, but what they do with it, personally I don't care. I'm certain LEO's want to go hop on a internet forum that they really don't care about when people are talking about their profession on that forum

You've mentioned many times the LEOs who are your friends. I just thought maybe one/some of them might like to view this thread.

Guys I shoot with know exactly how I feel. Heck, I've been told I shouldn't talk if I don't have to. The key is respect. It runs both ways. You get pulled over, you don't help your case one bit by being a ********.

My only point about friends being in law enforcement is I'm not that blind that I believe every person who wears a police uniform is a bad person. I'm not that naive. Heck, I've been told I should of dropped a name to get out of a seat belt violation:laughing: I won't do it.

That said, you can go down to our local gas station and you will also see the local cops actually standing on the corner talking with people. Not all cops do that now a days.
