I bought and sold a Kubota BX1860 and a Kubota B2320. Didn't lose anything but the sales tax, which you never get back. Every area is so very different. Around here, a good, clean Kubota, less than 3 years old, with sub 100 hours, barn kept? Normally returns your money. Again, every area is different. One thing to always take into consideration is whether the original purchase was a good buy or not. There can be as much as $2000-$3000 between purchases made on the same Kubota from one dealership to another. I'm assuming Mass is the state and I'm completely uninformed on both retail prices and re-sale prices common to that area.

I would gladly accept a few thousand off, but not $5k+ for 40 hours of use. I hope to find someone that wants the tractor, but won't hold my breath!

OP, are you thinking about going to a bx or a zero turn?

Yes, it has the loader with quick attach bucket, 54" MMM and grass catcher. I built in on the Kubota website and just came up with $22,400 before any rebates or discounts. Not sure how I came up with $23k above :drink:

Around these parts I could buy that tractor around 19,000 brand new w/o tax. Since it has such low hours you might be able to sell for around $18,500

Probably just a garden tractor (JD or Husqvarna) then rent a skidsteer 1x-2x per year or as needed.

I understand the dealer's point-I think tractors take a depreciation hit when they came off the lot. Maybe it's just my prejudice, but I wouldn't pay more than 85% of what I could buy a tractor new for any used machine, especially when you are talking a $20,000 unit. I suspect others feel that way as well. After that initial hit, I think depreciation slows down quite a bit.
I know I got 60% of what I paid for a 9 year old BX2200 with 1250 hours.

Maybe John Thomas could explain how he has bought and sold or traded in so many tractors. I guess either he loses a bunch of money or he has a good system to minimize the losses.

I looked at trading my full optioned BX2670 this summer on an 80-Series. My dealer, whom I've bought and traded five tractors with, said to run it to next year, about 150 hours, and it won't be worth less then than it was earlier this summer at 45 hours. I'm at 80 hours now, and since this isn't my first rodeo, I suspect I'll probably get over $16,500 with loader, drive over 60" deck, Jery's Q/A, Jery's adjustable forks, 60" FEL blade, and HD cutting edge on bucket.

I am in Mass, any interest in selling the grass catcher? How did it work?

I am going to keep the grass catcher, as it will be easier to sell the whole machine when the time comes.

The grass catcher works very well. I used it yesterday to pick up leaves and no issues or clogs. The only negative thing I can say is that the catcher is heavy and a pia to take on or off. I usually leave it on all season and then take it off for the winter.
