My wife and I are both in our very early 70's and she is still working as an LPN while I am retired. I tend to be very conservative and she is just the opposite although she would not need to work. We could spend a lot more money but we have what we need. I feel that our children and grand children are going to need help financially in order to retire at a decent age so I don't feel bad about investing for their future. Sure would be nice, however, to pass along 401K and IRA savings to them without first having to pay Uncle Sam.

I also worry about our future generations. How will they ever be able to retire? Perhaps when they are in power and making decisions they can find those answers.

The wife and I are planning to retire in February of 2019. She will turn 63 and i will be 62 the October before. She missed a few years of work and the extra months of work will add to SS for her.

I don't regret retiring at 62 but Uncle Sam still takes a big bite out of my pocket every year. At least Social Security helps pay my taxes. Go figure.

i turned 60 this year... i was thinking about semi retiring next year. just work abit so i dont go completely nuts and to make some scratch till retirement age.

the wife and I have no debt at all. everything is paid off. she retired a few years ago, and seems to not miss work at all. She has lots of hobbies to keep her busy.

i need to come up with some more hobbies to keep me occupied so i dont go stir crazy come winter. the biggest problem is stopping the generator install business as it pays so good. that would be hard to stop, and not sure if i could do it part time.

i need to run some numbers

I don't know if it would fit you or not, but Amateur radio has served me well as one of my hobbies thru several decades. I helped an electrician from Maryland get on a new digital mode just yesterday. He sure had some nice equipment, and I took it that his trade had done well for him, at least judging by the quality of his gear and antenna system. I spent about an hour with him over the phone, and got him all set up on this new mode. Amateur Radio (Ham Radio) is a very diverse hobby, that means different things to different people. There is always something different to try out and play with. It is, or can be very technical. I don't know if that fits your personality or not, but there are a lot of tradesmen in the hobby. I was in telecom for most of my life, but you avocation and mine are not all that different. I worked shoulder to shoulder with electricians on many projects. Just a thought.

Dadgummit, I have to work today. I have a client coming over in a few minuets and have to go to Springfield to meet another one this afternoon. This working business is cutting into my leisure time. :D

That's how I've felt for the last three weeks. Been running a dozer for a friend. Have had one day off in 20 days. This has got to stop!!!!! :)

It is pretty bad when work interferes with retirement. I can't complain, I am off more than I am on..
