there is no duct collector in my future... and 10 to 15 sq ft out of 850 isn't something I'm going to worry about.

I started working on the shop over the weekend. It was -4° F all weekend, but the wood stove kept the shop comfortable.

Here's what the shop looked like 2 years ago when I bought the place. The previous owner insulated and put up most of the vapor barrier. During the purchase process I found out the building permit was still "open" with the township. In order to close the file, I would need to either remove the insulation, and wood stove or board up the walls and ceiling to protect the vapor barrier.

I go moving pretty quick on Saturday and didn't get a camera out till the afternoon.
I'd already put up OSB board on 1/2 the walls when I install my work bench, and had some extra material from another job. Unfortunately when we moved in we quickly set up 2 large shelving units to manage all my garage treasure. We didn't take the time then to sheet the walls. so the first step was to empty the shelf, and remove it.

PS all theses pictures are the corner where the compressor will go.

here's where I finished on Sunday night.
OSB is up on all the walls, both shelf units are back up.
I'm now ready to build the compressor closet.

My basic plan for the closet construction is 2x4 studs on 24" OC...... roxul insulation. OSB boards on both sides.... lots of Acoustic seal and spray foam for the gaps. exterior grade steel door (32")

I figure I'll try that, and if I need more sound deadening, I can add a layer of drywall on the inside.

Add a layer of celotex such as ceiling tile on the inside. You can get water stained or store damaged ones for free or next to free. New ones are not that expensive for the small space you have. Will work better than sheetrock.

Project is looking good

it was a busy weekend.

I decided to build the closet roughly 60" x 42" on the outside, with un-equal walls in order to accommodate some shelving I have.
I didn't realize how time consuming using the acoustical seal on all the joints was going to be. it almost doubles the work. the basic steps where, measure, cut, fit, mark, remove, apply sealant, re install, screw.

working alone, the dry wall hoist was a big help.

My ceiling height is about 8'8" which made a few things more complicated then they needed to be.

I put the sheeting up on the inside first, then installed the exterior door, spray foam and insulation.

I still need to trim out the door, and do a little bit of caulking in the inside, but the closet 98% done.

The buggy is what I work on when I finish the the "honey do" list.

it started life off as a Suzuki Samurai... but rust killed it and I decided it was time for a dedicated trail rig.
specs are basically 1.6L, 3 speed auto, kick reduction box, sami 4:1 T-case with dana 44 axles, locked front and back, high steer set up and 35" tires. Jeep YJ springs all hanging off a custom 2x4 frame and tube body.
