Quirky and OCD tendencies..... Anyone else have them?

The only problem with wild high bush cranberry or wild raspberries - brown bears like the berries also. And they don't take kindly to people picking in their patch.

Yes, there is that + the fact that the little stinkers can eat about 30,000 berries per day! That is when you invite your "slow" friends to help you pick so you can get a head start on the bear.

FWIW - we never PICKED the berries. Did it the Eskimo way. Bend the berry bushes over a cardboard box - beat gently on the bush with a stick - the ripe berries will fall in the cardboard box. When you get home - roll all the berries down an old wool Army blanket - this will remove leaves, twigs, etc. Float berries in bathtub quarter full of water to remove unripe berries and wash the rest.

Hahahaha! Good memories! Years ago, we had a special patch loaded with black currants and raspberries. You had to be Quick and Lucky to out-wit those bears. D.O.T. ruined it with a pullout.

Hey, isn't this is the "quirky" thread? Outwitting bears is kinda quirky, right? I never had to fight the bears for blackberries down here in Southwest Missouri, but I have had some serious battles with the chiggers!.:laughing:

I suppose so. I'm fighting a mouse battle in the chicken coop right now. Not sure I'm winning but I have probably caught 30 mice over 3 days. Now, how many steps is it to the chicken coop? I will get back to you on that one.

Yes, I do like pumpkin pie, with a bit of whipped cream. Sweet potato pie just makes me cringe. Honestly, I get the willies and shudder when I taste it. You guys know that feeling, I'm sure. blehhhh shake shake shiver! :laughing:

I get a whole mince pie all to myself a couple times per year! I used to get 8 pieces from a mince pie, but for some reason, I only get 6 out of one pie now.... :laughing: :licking::licking:
