You can get a tax credit on taxed fuel used for off road work . We pumped cement powder with a pto pump there is a chart for gallons of fuel used .So the company would file for a credit

I thought it was a couple hundred dollars plus a fee for any fuel on your property.

Penalties for illegal use of dyed diesel

Each violation will result in a fine of $10/gallon or $1,000 per tank, whichever is greater.
Examples:

If you have 3 registered vehicles, each with a 20-gallon capacity, you could face a fine of $3,000. (3 vehicles x $1,000 minimum fine = $3,000)
If you fuel a licensed vehicle from your own 150-gallon dyed diesel slip tank or bulk storage tank, you could face a fine for both the tank and the vehicle:
$1,500 for the bulk storage tank ($10 x 150 gallons = $1,500), and:
$1,000 for the vehicle tank ($1,000 minimum fine)

Thanks Aaron.

If I had red fuel in my truck, which is hauling a 55 gallon tank of red fuel, potentially I could be fined $1000 for the truck and $1000 for the tank in the bed.

I'd argue the fine on the tank unless I was stupid enough to get caught pumping fuel into my truck from the tank. Probly have to hire a lawyer who is going to charge you $500 just to show up. So might as well pay both.

That's much more logical than the extraordinary round table claims.

So for my large farmer friend or OTR truck owner friend it would be much more serious if they got fined on their red fuel storage tanks, one of which will hold two semis of fuel.

I do not know the penalty as I have not found any yet, I have a person at the IRS I have to call if I ever find dyed fuel.

All I can say is, it’s not going to be worth it to ever use dyed fuel. Lol

Not questioning your statement, just trying to find logic.

You work for the State of NY and you are required to call the IRS if you find a violator?? What would be the purpose of that call?? Thanks!!

Well I would say it’s because your not paying the tax on the fuel? Lol

   / Diesel fuel question #49
Is red dye off road fuel safe to use in a tier 4 engine ?

Well if it isn't there are a lot of full time farmers out there, who have never even used "on road" diesel who will be be in big trouble.

Think about it guys; are we that cityboy of a mindset? My FIL, who runs 100s of gallons a year through his tractors, would never even think about putting anything but off-road diesel in anything he owns that is diesel.

It wouldn't be worth it for you to make that call if the farmers in your area find out you made that call. Lol
