Tractor
2017 Kubota L2501
I have a kubota L2501 HST. Just wongering what has to be done to pull a tractor for what ever reason. For instance, if the tractor doesn't start or has engine trouble and the engine won't/can't run, and I have to pull it back to my shop, is there a way to release the hydraulics to the HST so that it can be pulled or can it just be pulled. Would putting the gear selector in nuetral work.

Just put it in neutral.

And have someone on it you can trust to hit the brakes.

Thanks guys. Just wasn稚 sure because I know very little about hydrostatic drives

Have had tractors with HST pulled twice by my neighbor on his big JD. Just put it in neutral. Of course, you will not have power steering, but it will work. Brakes will work. Steering brakes might be needed. Unfasten them to have that ability.

Don’t hook up to the brush guard or weight connector! Too many videos on YouTube showing the failure of that connection... heh.

Put it in neutral and if you're going very far you'll need a helper to steer and brake. Sometimes if I'm trying to pull something by myself I'll loosely set the parking brake do it doesn't roll into the tow vehicle.

Thanks,
I had the same question on my mind

I could not find a single photo or video. I also chain my tractors down to trailers using the brush guard... it one of the strongest parts of the tractor.

I think you are right but I would think that all would depend on how well the brush guard was constructed and mounted and where you hooked on to it at. The front of my LS brush guard swings down(like most brush guards) and is held closed by two spring loaded pins at the middle and two 1/2" bolts at the bottom. I wouldn't want to hook on to the movable portion of the brush guard but attaching to the mounting portion that directly hooks to the tractor with 4 bolts would be no problem.

OF course, an idiot can get around any safety device and common sense and cause a mishap without hardly trying.
