That's what I figured, so "I" bought the chaps for him and he agreed to work them off helping me...and he did...

NOW, if I could only get him to buy a helmet with ear protection!!

I always struggle with the helmets with ear protection. It seems I never get good hearing protection and default to wearing hearing protection without head protection. I have a face screen with hearing protection that gives good hearing protection but it seems to slide down. What brands give good head/face/ear protection for all?

I'm a pedantic 'safety' bloke, which means that when I bought my Stihl chainsaw I also kitted myself out with all of the Stihl brand safety gear available at the same time. (comes from my Navy training + watching out for Junior Sailors under my supervision)

The Stihl helmet/ear-defender/mesh-visor fits me comfortably... although I find that I have to tuck the defenders on first and then "scrunch" the helmet down into position. Mind you, I've got a wee scone as it is. :)

I've found that even with the muffs, my ears are still ringing at the end of the day after running chainsaw and tractor. (My HST whine is loud enough to cover the sound of the engine.) The best muffs I can find are only rate for 36 Dbs, so I've gone to using earplugs with a 33 Db rating. They are a pain to use, but so is losing my hearing.
The highest rated ear muffs I've found are 26 Dbs, not 36. I wish that I could find a set that good.
