Personally I dont care if someone is selling firearms in the microwave and washing machine section, just as long background checks are done by a licence somebody. //

Same-state sales private sales in Maine do not require going through a dealer FFL.

Some private sellers run even in-state transactions through an FFL so there is an official record of the transfer. Some states have additional restrictions.

When you run it through an FFL, the buyer may get a delay even though they can lawfully possess. The most common reason is that there is someone else with the same or similar name who is a Prohibited Person.

May be wrong but if they are shipping a gun whether dealer or not it must be shipped to Federal Firearm Licensed dealer. I think the dealer that receives it has to do the background verification and licensing. If the person does not pass that they do not get the gun. Now I am not a licensed dealer so may be off some on those details.

I am a licensed dealer and the above is correct

I think this MAY need a little clarification. Kthompson said that if "they" were shipping a firearm, and I take that as they are putting it into some sort of shipping company, ie USPS, UPS, Fedex, etc, then I think that is an error. I believe, and may be wrong, but as a private seller, the seller will need to take the firearm to a FFL holder and have the FFL holder ship the gun. I am sure that it has to be done that way with class III weapons, and think that it also applies to typical non Class III weapons like we are discussing. A firearm must go to an FFl and be shipped to an FFl is the way it always has happened in any of my transactions. However, might be because most of my out of state firearms has been purchases of guns from FFL dealers and they ship them to the FFL dealer of my choice here. (He retired, so no more background checks at free to actual cost any more, which was $8.00).
I know of a single instance where an FFL dealer shipped an AOW that he personally owned, to a Class III dealer in Florida, and the Class III dealer had something to say about it, and it wasn't pretty.

In MOST states a private seller CAN send/ship a firearm to any licensed dealer, the dealer does the paperwork to make the sale legal to the buyer...

Not acceptable to list items under incorrect categories or brands. So I removed it. No idea about the legality of selling handguns on the internet but I suspect it would give us problems if we allowed it.
