Dealer, NAPA, and Walmart.

Dealer knows us by name and we're on his Christmas card list. Our napa counterguy is way into his products. His "go-nogo" has never let me down. Walmart is a boil on the *** of the retailing world. I still shop there. Obviously.

Cutting open your filters is a worthwhile idea all on its own. A Rigid tubing cutter makes quick work. Boring routine is good to confirm.

Why not call your local dealer back and tell them you found the same gaskets for $18 bucks.Maybe they would have come down on there price.In my neck of the woods UPS and the US postal service are a disaster to deal with.Good luck on whatever way you choose.

They should charge a reasonable price to begin with, I don't do business with people that attempt to rip you off until you say something to them, UPS, FEDEX and USPS counldn't be more reliable in this neck of the woods......................................................

I totally agree and was about to make the same comment until I read yours first. Why give them a "second" chance. They already had their opportunity to make a sale. The same goes for all merchants and any major purchase I make.

Be careful for what you wish for.Cheaper does NOT always mean better products.If it"s apples to apples same product I agree..

Come on man, Of course we are talking same brand, same product.. We are not talking an OEM AGCO part and a 30 cent Chinese aftermarket replacement.. When these local places go out of business, a lot of them it's there own greed that caused it..

Anyone who is dumb enough to pay twice or three times the amount than something is worth is the person who is enabling these local thieves..

I mostly buy OEM filters for all of my engines and transmissions, from the dealer.

Oil and hydraulic fluids come from the local Exxon-Mobil fuel distributor. I don't feel that it's necessary to try to maintain a stock of oils in everyone's specific container. And, on my farm, I have several: JD, CNH, Kubota, CAT, Ford, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, Briggs & Stratton, to name a few. None of the equipment manufacturers have an oil refinery. I buy very high quality oils, but they still cost about half of "tractor brands."
The tractor/hydraulic/transmission fluid that I use is Mobilfluid 424. It meets JD, CNH, Kubota, CAT, etc., and others specifications. $56 for 5 gallons.
The engine oil that I use is CAM2 15w-40 synthetic blend. Approx. $400 for 55 gallons.

I buy from my local Kubota dealer. They are reasonably priced for a dealer. Everyone gets 10% off MSRP.

Sure I could get cheaper online. I do a lot of online purchasing, however, with my tractor I like to maintain a relationship with my dealer.

Of course if the dealer was not reasonable I would rethink my position.

My Chevy throttle sensor went 100K and went out. The local shop put in a NAPA replacement which went 18K and went out. Worse reverse engineering than the original engineering I guess. Went back to a Chevy part hoping for another 100K.

When I was losing fuel pumps I was told to stop buying aftermarket units. The mechanic said that whereas the OEM controls the flow and pressure by the pump piston bore and stroke, the aftermarket pumps I was buying simply increase the pump speed.

Not all dealers have the ability to decide what to charge or mark up parts. The list price is generally set by the tractor OEM. And to me it is a tough thing. I want the dealer to be successful so I have a place to go and get my questions answered and my equipment fixed when it’s beyond my capabilities or I need that special o ring now not 2 days from now. But I hate the feeling of getting hosed.
