Where do you guys buy your oil and filters?

Do you buy all of your car and or truck service stuff from the local dealer?

I buy Motorcraft filters and SAE oil at Walmart for my Ranger. I took it to the dealer for the 100k tuneup where they used Ford parts because as someone said on the Rangerforums " if they went 100k miles the first time, why replace them with something different?" The service depts of the local "big 3" dealers all are competively priced, and know what they are doing as opposed to some of the hacks I've had do work in the past.

I don't know enough about lubricants, transmissions and engines to stray from Kubota's recommended oils. This is just me talking but Kubota seems to keep a tight lid on distributors of their materials .... some competition would be nice.

The hydro oil, filter and fuel filters I stick with Massey but I see no need to purchase Massey oil and oil filter when I can buy better oil and as good a filter if not better at a convenient location such as Walmart..

IMHO,why do folks who purchase a $20,000-$40,000 tractor then try to cheap out on oil filters. Why not support your local dealer who sold you the tractor?Just curious??

I wouldn't call buying a more superior oil and filter at a fraction of the cost a dealer charges cheaping out.. I like supporting my local dealer but NOT for things they charge twice as much for..

I called the dealer the other day, I needed two gaskets, they told me $38 for the two and they wanted $18 to ship it to me, (they are 65 miles away) I bought the same two NEW Massey gaskets on ebay shipped to my house for $18, I like nothing more then to spend my money locally but I'm not going to get robbed in the process..

Why not call your local dealer back and tell them you found the same gaskets for $18 bucks.Maybe they would have come down on there price. In my neck of the woods UPS and the US postal service are a disaster to deal with.Good luck on whatever way you choose.

They should charge a reasonable price to begin with, I don't do business with people that attempt to rip you off until you say something to them, UPS, FEDEX and USPS counldn't be more reliable in this neck of the woods..

The local JD dealer (20 miles away) is very reasonable on there prices, go figure..

Kubota oil filters are white and easier to write the engine hours onto when changing. I do not know why some make them black.

My Chevy throttle sensor went 100K and went out. The local shop put in a NAPA replacement which went 18K and went out. Worse reverse engineering than the original engineering I guess. Went back to a Chevy part hoping for another 100K.

If I'm buying an actual part for my tractor or vehicles I buy the manufactures parts, my local Ford dealer takes care of my vehicles, I haven't had any luck with NAPA or any other auto parts store parts, the quality I have found to be pretty poor..
