Dozer vs. Bulldozer - What do you call it?

/ Dozer vs. Bulldozer - What do you call it? #42
You could start with the media's obsession over the use of the word,"Tarmac", to describe any pavement at an airport.

There hasn't been any Tarmac, at a U.S. airport, in over 50 years.

Tarmac is not asphalt.

Tarmac, is a brand name for a patented, tar based, obsolete paving process.

Using Tarmac under commercial aircraft, would be a disaster, especially in warm weather.
Tarmac is another word for apron at airport

Thank you, I am aware of that. It's still incorrect.

The way our language works is, if people call it that, the dictionary includes it. If people start calling it strudel, it will be included in the definition under strudel. It still won't be strudel.

It's just like Kleenex, Dumpster, Thermos, Aspirin, etc....

Tarmac is an acceptable term to describe any asphalt, concrete, hard paved surface, etc... at an airport.

"Tarmac, term used for any paved surface of an airport, regardless of material, e.g. the airport aprons, taxiways, or runways"

Not really.

Calling a different brand of facial tissue "Kleenex" is calling the same thing by, a brand name. Either way, it's still the same product.

Tarmac, is not the same product, by a different name.

No one calls concrete, asphalt, just because it's used the same way. It's not the same thing, and people generally know that.

That's why people go along with "Tarmac", they don't realize, it's not the same thing as asphalt. And, the media feeds their ignorance, buy using "Tarmac" every chance they get.

Whether people Like it or not, it's not "Tarmac".

Tarmac is a paved surface at an airport. Originally it was a type of pavement. That reference is obsolete
Also asphalt is a type of concrete

Maybe like asking for a Coke and being upset when Pepsi is served?
