Cabela's Tractors

Some TYM dealers may have those problems and feel that way, but I think my dealer is looking at it more like, more service work for him.

I see Cabelas tractors in his shop for service/repairs, and he is making money off those jobs and he hasn't mentioned one complaint to me..

I think it's more like, the Cabelas owners are glad to have a place to get their tractors serviced, and those dealers that refuse to work on them ARE missing out big time!

I know that a dealer south of me seemed very concerned and I think would have no issue working on my machine if I paid for it. In another 16 months it will totally be on me anyway. Warranty won't be an issue. Just as an aside, the cabelas techs were dismissed here.

It takes years to develop a brand and buyers for your line of products. Cabelas didn't really give the tractors a chance. But in my opinion they were too busy selling out the company. I hope I don't have an issue, but I'd not be hesitant to find a lawyer to start a class action suit against the family if necessary. I bought mine prior to the discontinuation of the line. So I expected full warranty and service by cabelas......

As standard practice today: The blame game. I totally disagree with comment #79.

Put the blame everywhere but where it belongs: on CABELA'S MANAGEMENT and THEIR VERY POOR DECISION to start selling tractors, which didn't turn out to be profitable. :confused3:

Now, Oldoak, don't you be going and getting all logical on us! Post #79 gives us the obvious answer:

A. blame the Cabelas lawyers who helped create the TYM purchase agreement and allowed language that committed Cabelas to maintain all parts responsibility and also allowed BassPro's purchase agreement to exonerate BassPro.

We've known that this is the real problem for over 400 years:

"The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers". Wm Shakespeare, Henry VI, Part 2, Act IV, Scene 2.

I would drop by and ask John Morris the CEO of Bass Pro how he intends to take care of the Cabella tractor owners

QUOTE=Scott1164;5192906]So still waiting on their Corporate office to pay for the repairs. the service manager Scott Burnett is no longer there. I found this out when I called to check on the reimbursement. I am kicking myself for buying this tractor. Scott told the GM that I had been taken care of. Cabelas customer service really sucks. On another note, I am really thinking about selling it since I am concerned about repairs down the road.[/QUOTE]

So I got my email from Cabelas GM. They said the local TYM dealer ripped me off when they ordered the parts(that Cabelas couldn't get) and that they were up to 700% markup. Not sure where they were getting their actual parts cost from, but I am assuming TYM Korea with no middle man mark up. With that said I am getting a check for $974.49 on a $4,000 parts bill. Way to go Cabelas......you suck......small claims court here we go......Oh what fun.

Go for it. $3000+ is definitely worth lawyer, you might can do yourself depending upon your state laws. I do know that the couple of parts I got through cabelas was at about 15 or 20 percent discount. (Or that is what they were going to charge me until I told them it was warranty items). Not 700 percent. There are a couple of online part sales sites for TYM, if you have the part numbers, you can check for current retail price. And I'd try and see if your guy that repaired will give you cost info. He might, and so what that there was markup? He, like cabelas would do if they did non warranty work. a markup on parts is std procedure.

Keep us informed.

Not a new problem and not one to get fixed for what I've seen. Sold approximately 17 brands and makes combination through the years. It sure has been an eye opener when you see them go and need parts to keep the customers going! It can be ugly!

Does anyone have a close up pic of the starter and the wires going to it. There are 2 post and a male spade on the side of the starter. Something equivalent to the tym 353. Thx
Gary
