Cabela's Tractors

As I stated earlier, my muffler and fuel tank were shipped from TYM after being ordered by cabelas last fall. There hadn't been a tech since about March 17, in the Rogers Arkansas store. And no parts. And yep, as far as I can tell, the 25hp cabelas is 100 percent TYM as far as mechanical and most other parts. Woods supplied the fel, and my tiller, TYM the belly mower. 122 hours and counting..... I tend to keep things forever, hopefully TYM built it well. And after warranty enda, yep TYM should sell us parts...

Just a couple thoughts.

1. Cabelas had/has I believe 5 different distribution warehouses throughout their chain as of before Bass Pro take over. My understanding is that all Cabelas products that weren't direct shipped from internet sales to customers directly were always shipped to those warehouses and then sent out/delivered to the stores for customer pickup or for their stocking needs. Each of those warehouses were operated in conjunction with a standalone store location. Has anyone bothered to contact one or all of those warehouses to see if they were/are gathering points for the parts ? As an example - the Prairie Du Chien WI warehouse is actually connected to the back of the store. Employees in the ordering department that work between the store and the warehouse can look up on their computers to see product availability for each of the warehouses stocking on given items. Just a thought.

2. From day one of Cabela's tractor startup - it was very clear and printed that Cabela's was providing their own service and repair work and had sole responsibility for it. That didn't mean they physically had to do the work - but they were responsible for it getting done when it came to warranty related work. My understanding was from day one - that TYM dealers had no responsibility or requirement to do warranty work - because TYM was not paying for it - Cabela's was. So its very easy to understand that TYM dealers today are very concerned that they could lose lots of money if they said "yes" to any implied responsibility. I would tend to believe - those dealers are scared to get sucked into the middle of a mess - because TYM corporate is telling them the TYM story - and Cabela's store managers may be very uncertain to what Bass Pro/Cabela's is approving or denying.

3. Are all Cabela's parts the same as TYM parts or were some custom modified or altered for Cabela's by TYM. I recall Cabela's tractors had some improvements in design or etc. that goes beyond the color of the unit.

4. I would assume in 2018 - that the bumper to bumper warranties are completed for many/most. That would leave the drive train warranties. In most tractor brands - electronics or certain wear parts are not considered "drive train" and such either have much shorter warranties on those parts which have already expired. Can anyone confirm that?

5. I would think that Attorney Generals in various states would have little interest because of only 1 or two claims per state - but that the Nebraska Attorney General or similar governmental licensing body in Nebraska might have a greater interest for more than one or two reasons.

6. Lastly - the now 3rd party service centers - prior numerous of them had fully trained service techs for the tractors. Contacting one or two of them may generate ideas of who can work on the units (they'd know) - and it could also serve as a possible method for Bass Pro to deal with the situations once they became involved further involved.

7. My assumption is that once any implied or required warranties are totally eliminated - that TYM will be happy to service the units as a normal customer pay - but until then - they will want guarantees of payment - because dealers of TYM don't want to try to collect from an uncertain BassPro/Cabelas.

cabela tractors are total junk ! ive never seen a plastic pile like them before

Funny how some on this site buy a riding lawn mower and now they are an expert on all tractors made. Dåmndest thing I've ever seen. I've been on here a while, as you can see I don't make many post. When I do I only give out correct info unlike some on here. :(

Bud Soda, I'll do just that. I, or others can't help a person who doesn't want to be helped. But more importantly, others who could be part of future Cabela's efforts, do you think they will be eager to coordinate with you also?

My post was intended for owners of Cabelas tractors so we can come up with something to right our situation. Adding a bunch of nonsense about things you know nothing about makes for unnecessary reading. Look at it this way. I like small helicopters. I intend to by one soon, but I don't go on helicopter sites and try to tell helicopter owners how to fly or repair their birds.

I own Cabela's tractor, LM55H.
I lived 800 miles from the dealer I bought i tfrom, and due to them being basically clearance, did not really expect to be able to get much warranty work done.

I thought axlehub's comments were for the most part useful.

I look for parts online, as I expect they will be there quite a bit.

So I should be able to pick up my tractor next week, with the bill going over $5,600. I will let everyone know once I do and talk to Scott Burnette at Cabelas. Basically they are now saying they can warranty parts from Korea, but they will not give a timeline. Too late for me because when I asked this question before Scott said they would just pay for the repair. When the dealer wanted the deposit for the parts Cabelas Corporate put the brakes on it is what Scott Burnette said.

Bottom line is they are responsible for the repair as my contract states a bumper to bumper three year warranty. If they (Cabelas) cant perform the repair than they are responsible to reimburse you legally. It may take a judge or magistrate, but it can be done. I was informed that each individual case needs to be separate. My suggestion if you have parts and labor less than that you need to file a small claims action. Small claims in Wake County is max $10,000.

Once I confirm payment or non payment I will let you guys know. We can meet and discuss strategy going forward since some of these are covered for 5 years.

I'm glad you are getting something worked out. I'm going to call scott again about my bad display and see what he has to say about it. Been a few months. I'm in Harnett Co.
