it happens. My cousin called last month and told me he had messed up. Said he was cutting the field, and somehow the oil filter worked lose and too much oil leaked out on his Dutz tractor.
It started knocking and he shut it down.
Drug it back to his shop.
He dropped the pan and said rod was loose.
He ended up just replacing the rod bearings. A month later and it's still running

When I had a drag car, I installed a low pressure cut off switch on the engine. I may try to install one on my Kubota . Somehow

Details?

Just a block? Or a true short block with crank, rods, pistons, etc.

Rebuildable meaning it needs machine work to crank, bores, etc or meaning it needs a too end?

not sure. You want their number to ask all the details ?
I gave them the engine number you provided, they said they had a rebuildable short block.

I called them the week that this happened because thats who my dealer suggested. They didnt have any.

Called them again on monday or tuesday this week to see if they had anything new in. Still nothing..

Maybe because I was asking for an engine for a MX5100 and not a block/short block???? I would have though if they had anything at all they would have said something like "well we dont have a complete running engine....but....we have.....???

Or maybe this is something they just got in??

I'll call them back again if I get a chance today, if not after work today.

When I called, I asked if they had an engine. They said do you have an engine number. I gave them the number you listed. they said I'll check and call you back.
They called me back saying all they had right now was a rebuildable short block. I told them it wasn't for me that I would give the info to the person in need

something you said about dealers drilling a hole in the block is probably true.
Last summer, I bought a Kubota diesel Z turn mower.

I managed to put 1.9 hrs on the engine before it blew a head gasket and dumped all coolant out the exhaust.
The dealer told me kubota made them them drill a hole in that block.

I just got off the phone with a friend that deals in A lot of ag equipment.
He told me kubota makes the local Kubota dealer drill a hole in the block of all engines they get in for warranty replacement.
He said because of this, blocks are getting scarce
