Good to hear.

:cool2: Looks like a success story. Probably will need to confirm whether your tach cable is good.

try to tighten your tack cable up at the back of the tach. Give it a few taps with a screwdriver handle maybe the gears are stuck? There pretty simple things. They have plenty of them at Hoye if you need one, and i suggest having a working one. I don't think the two are related, just probably some worn spots on 40 year old parts!!

And this is good news about the tractor. I bet it runs fine for 20 more years!

whats the warning light on the dash for?

Warning light is battery light. The alternator has been converted to a GM single wire, and the factory box has been cut out of the wiring harness. That’s another project on this thing I’d like to get taken care of, turning that darn light off. Haha

if you don't care about knowing if your not charging, just pull the bulb!!! a hack fix that i would not like personally, but with these once your going your going. Your lights may not work but your tractor will still run, you don't even need the battery once started for daytime. hehe

That’s a thought, I just won’t do that though. Haha eventually I’ll fix it. Maybe.
Need to get new nuts for the headlight switch too.

If you could make a GM three wire alternator work, I believe that would fix the light, would come on when not charging and go out when it was. The original regulator was what made that work.

Gotcha, I’ve got a Ford 3 wire sitting here from the boat engine, but the alternator on the tractor is brand new, and is 90amp vs the factory 50 or whatever it was it came with.

Be hard to make the light to turn off with the single wire model.
