Didn't u just need a block & a crank?? Unless those are deep scratches, it might be your only choice..
I must have missed it.. but what did EPS say??
They've never let ME down..
It might have taken them awhile to build me one but they always came thru..
I don't recall exactly what EPS said because I have called so many. But the consensus was since Kubota ag and Kubota industrial was different, and one had balance shafts and the other didn't, that I would need to go somewhere that handled the ag side.
To the matter at hand....yes I need a block. And yes this block "can" be rebuilt with a bore, hone, new oversized pistons and rings, I'd still need a new fuel camshaft since this non-turbo block is different, the lifter bores look questionable (I didn't post pics of them), and it would require using my cam and lifters.
I spent $2k on this block delivered, with the pretense that it needed no machine work. So $800-$1000 in bearings, re-ring, gaskets, etc. And I'd bw back in business for $3000 or so.
I was already looking at $3000-$4000 to rebuild MY block if it hadn't spun that bearing.
Now adding machine work, and new pistons, and the $2000 I paid.....I am back up to the cost of a new engine. So it isn't cost effective for me to want to mess with this.
Hope that clears it up. It's not about what can and can't be done. It's about smart use of money. I don't want to spend $6k or $7k for a rebuilt and oversized engine, re-using my whole top end and turbo.....when I can just buy a whole new engine for a little over $7k
