Blew up Kubota motor

I was telling a friend of mine what happened to you LD1. The same thing happened to him. Lost the dipstick on his 170 Allis. Looked everywhere for it. Had to get another one. By luck he saw that it was out of the dipstick tube before any damage was done. Told me he got another one and crimped the fitted knurl tighter on it. Thanks for the updates.

It didn't take you long to get it in place... That Busch can in the background indicates that it was a one beer job.

More like a 8-9 beer job. I just keep them crushed and out of the way. The one in the background was the active can at the moment.

Got started on it about 1pm. 4:30p when I posted the pics, the tractor was back together physically, but still had all the accessories. Electrical, fuel, cooling system, hydraulics, loader posts and hood.

Got all that done by about 7pm and she purrs like a kitten. Gonna head out and mow a few acres today to put her to the test.

That is amazing to get it done so fast. I would still be looking at the crate.

And dont know if I updated about the oil light or not, but the bulb is fine. Tore into the dash last week only to find the bulb works just fine.

So looked at the print in my WSM to see how this circuit was designed..

The light ALWAYS has 12v present. The oil pressure switch is NC....meaning with no oil pressure it completes the path to ground and makes light come on.

So took trusty meter to the old sending unit...yep....switch is stuck open.

Dont really care for this design for the oil circuit....if wire breaks, pulls off, or switch fails the light will never operate.

New block didn't come with a new pressure switch....so that added $28 to the cost. And $90 worth of oil and coolant. But it fired right up and sounds great

I though 6 hours was excessive. Wasnt working too fast and rushing though. Because there is a certain order to many of the things. Didnt want to get ahead of myself and forget something and have to unhook / back track to get what I forgot.

But figure about the same amount of time to take apart...a 12 hr motor swap job isn't stellar numbers by any means.

I can pull motor in my backhoe in about 2.5hrs...and back in about the same time.

Wonder what kubota's book time is on a motor R&R? I could have shaved ~1hr off each end if it was a non-loader tractor. But those heavy mounts, and 12 bolts each side + the control valve...

Excellent work LD1. I liked the picture of the crated engine sitting on your new flat bed.
Enjoy that 'new engine smell' as you break her in.

Probably gonna have alot of odd smells as the paint cures. Especially where they got the grey on the exhaust manifold....

I recently painted the exhaust system on my 2003 M-F231S. Was back, now silver. I thought I was driving a new tractor with the hot paint smell. So, I'm going to strip the paint and send the exhaust system off and have it Jet Hot coated.
