I saw dozens and dozens of tree service trucks and a few power service trucks on the road and in staging areas this morning when I drove to work. :thumbsup: Some friends of the kids showed up on Saturday so they could get showers. They had been without power for days and were not expected to get power until midnight tonight, ie, Monday.
Me think Michael took the powers that be by surprise. They did not expect the storm to be that bad and of course it kinda popped up sorta quickly. That and the focus on the areas hard hit by Florence. After the hurricanes in the last century, the state, local governments and power companies have improved their storm response. But the Michael response was a bit slow but they did speed up quickly.
And our outages and damage is nothing compared to what Florence did to eastern and southern NC or what Michael did on the Gulf. I sure hope we have nice, boring winter weather.

60 years ago as a young kid we would get snowed in for days many times each winter. No big deal.
Now I run a road grader taking care of 50 miles of country roads. People start calling if they can't get out the first morning after a snow storm...... Society is soooo spoiled.

No, why did "they" not deliver the food and water that was sitting in trucks and on pallets but instead gave free plane tickets off the island to the mainland?

We finally got our power back and yesterday they cleared the trees blocking one of the main roads we use to get back here.
4025 preformed flawlessly, first providing PTO power to the 16KW generator that provided our power, then cleaning up trees that were blown over.
On a side note, over the past 2 years I have been widening our private road and redoing the drainage ditches. With a few minor exceptions, everything flowed just the way I wanted it.
