No pictures as I was driving...

Coming up the Dublin Grade towards Castro Valley I saw a lot of smoke coming from a rig towing a container dolly... so much I thought the there was a fire.

The smoke was intense as the rig was driving better than 60... big rigs would pull up to him and honk and motion... one new rig pulled into the fast lane to pass on the left and motion him over... the driver was oblivious and then a inner right tire casing lanched into the right lane jus missing a Miata...

Driver kept going and two more tires were flat and running "Thin" as the centrifugal force was squeezing the size walls and stretching the tire... and even more smoke.

I did not want to pass and the fork in the freeway was coming up... the driver then puts on his signal and moves into the fast lane going even faster...

I tried to make contact but all I saw was a man with a very long beard and turban looking straight ahead... got me thinking why is he so oblivious but there have been news stories or Indians with turbans being attacked... I don't know.

Doubt the truck made it the Port of Oakland...

Years ago i was on a back road coming in from Melbourne Florida headed to Yeehaw junction to handle a service call. Road is just 2 lane with speed limits around 65mph. I got stuck behind a tractor trailer hauling half of a double wide mobile home.

One of tires came off on the left side of the trailer just as a miata was coming by it. Tire hit dead center in the front bumper then launched 50 plus feet straight up in the air. I locked the breaks up on my service truck and stopped dead in the road watching the tire to see where it was headed. Tire came down about 10ft in front of me, then bounced off into the brush on the side of the road.

Tire V'd the front bumper and part of the hood on the Miata. Driver was ok, just shaken up. Tractor trailer driver never stopped. Cops found him stopped about a mile out from Yeehaw junction, with two flat tires on the left side plus missing one tire and hub.

If the guy in orange was the driver he could easily have unbalanced it when he jumped out :shocked:

Heard on the morning drive radio a big rig lost a wheel and it went over the median into on coming traffic.

The evening I get home to see my neighbors RX7 being flatbeded…

She was on her way to work and a tire landed in her windshield smashing it in and caving part of the roof... she was very luck as it was the passenger side...

Re post 8916 (bulldozer standing on it's blade) 4x4 magazine (australia) had a similar picture of a range rover standing on it's nose, on the front cover. They jumped the vehicle over a sand dune and landed like that. The vehicle was brand new and on test too.

Lucky thing there wasn't a train coming; you wouldn't want to stop for too long with that time-sensitive load.

Well guys, saw this jewel at the local wal-mart last night. Parked in a no parking zone right up close to the store for all to see. How many issues can you see wrong? My wife said I was way more excited to capture this than I should be.

The town trash truck had that same experience. Somebody must have thrown out hot ashes or something because the load caught fire. They raced for the landfill but that just fanned the flames so they dumped it in the road... about 1/4 mile from my parent's house.
I guess that it took days for the stench to subside.

I saw that near here but not so dramatic. The garbage truck went down a nearly one-lane road smouldering and smoking until it reached the intersection with the highway where fire trucks were waiting. He dumped the load in the intersection for the firefighters to put out. Stopping sooner, way up that lane, would have at least started a brush fire, maybe worse considering how dry everything is. This is a few miles SW of that massive Santa Rosa fire last year so the fear of fire is real.

I realize a LOT of people have no idea how a car is built, the strength of different materials (Plastic for example), towing safely, but how do you ever think that is a good idea....
