Dangerous times even in small town

It really isnt sticky. You must know deadly force laws in your state if you intend to use deadly force. In this case, he knew why they were there (to take possessions). He could not prove his life was in any danger. If your life isnt in danger you really cant start shooting people in most states. This is likely why he is in prison.

in that case he was "laying in wait" and any self defense goes right out the window. Another similar case where the guy was waiting in a garage and shot a perp...also fouind guilty.

You just can't set a trap and then plead self defense

Sign on the front of property. Every third thief gets shot. The second one just left.

A guy would be smart to carry two wallets. One with a bit of cash, old expired DL and credit cards!

Hey - don't go giving away my method!

Also works well if you've acquaintances that "borrow" money. I open up the wallet and tell them "sorry, I've only got a couple of bucks here".

And the only way the cops would know that is if the old man talked. Two sentences coming out of my mouth should I ever have to shoot are: "I was in fear of losing my life" and "I want my lawyer".

I had a late, great aunt that lived in Liberty City, Miami, FL. She planned on getting mugged every day of her last 30 years there. She had a bunch of purses from thrift shops. She'd stuff a purse full of Christian literature and put her wallet down the front of her pants.

Many times people stole her purse and ran off. It gave her great satisfaction.
We have a friend who did that purse thing with a snake inside. Never heard what happened to the guy who took it.

I was watching Dateline the other day and the episode had a deal in CA where the neighbor spotted a guy climbing over a wall from an alley and sneaking around the neighbor's back yard and called the police. The police arrived and told the lady living there that they had a call from a neighbor about a prowler and she left the police at her front doorway to go out back and unlock/open her gate to let them into the back yard. For some reason they didn't go with her through her house and out to the back yard and the perp killed her before she could get to her gate to open it for the police.

Not busting CA, just where it happened in that case. I guess it must have been a communication breakdown issue or something, but her husband had put out a hit on her and the guy did the job he was hired for literally with the police standing at this lady's front door. As he hopped the back wall after stabbing her to death to get back in the alley where he came from, he basically landed on the other police cars that were on the other side of the home.

Sometimes you're not even protected when the police are right there. Now imagine many of us live outside a "normal" response time from police.

Plenty of people out in the country are attacked because bad people know law enforcement is spread thin. It's offset by smaller numbers of people generally. That's why I carry every day all day. Fortunately we still have some freedoms. I hope I never need it. My wife carries too and I think that she is more of a target due to gender and lack of awareness.

We can only do so much and the rest is up to God and other folks.

Just curious if there is a single instance when a person who has a legal license to carry a concealed weapon used it to commit crimes against others? Anti gun people seem to say this rather frequently, but from what I know, they seem to be the most law abiding people in the country.

I seem to recall just a couple where someone had a carry permit and committed a crime, but I think they were all domestic disturbances. Can't think of any robberies, burglaries, hold-ups, etc... where a licensed person committed the crime.

We (law abiding) have a lot to lose... our reputation, our guns, our money, family, etc, etc. Plus we submit to a hefty federal background check.

lawful gun owners are not a problem.
