Hello, i just bought a used lpg welder. I needed to know how long it will run on a full Tank, and can I hook up a bbq grill bottle with some sort of adaptor? Not sure of the size of my tank, but It looks like a forklift bottle. Thanks

Forklift bottles have a dip tube so they pull liquid out of the bottom of the tank. BBQ tanks pull gas of the top of the tank.

No clue if that welder is setup to run on liquid or gas propane, but you need make sure you feed it the right fuel it's designed for if you want it to work.

An LPG motor that size (~20hp) will use ~1 gallon per hour. Unless doing small jobs, a 20 lb. bottle (~4 gallons) will freeze up and not allow gas to escape. At 40 degrees F +, gas or liquid should be ok. Some smaller engines are a bear to get started on LPG the colder it gets.
A liquid draw setup has a vaporizer unit added (near oil filter?) to allow engine heat to convert the liquid to gas.

I had a Lincoln Ranger 8 that had an LPG conversion. It worked well in the summer but was very poor starting in the winter. Didn't take long for the coolness of LP to wear off and I had it converted it back to petrol.

Ditto for my Hobart champion i had, also pain when mobile welding had to carry spare tank.
