L2501 DT Purchase

The L2501 is very capable basic tractor - the BH77 makes it even more versatile/capable machine.

Just get the BH with a Mechanical thumb very well worth the $300 or so addition. As others have said the DT (dual traction) manual transmission is fine, but has its drawbacks not just PTO.

When on the BH with HST if you can reach the pedals (pole or hand) you can move the tractor without leaving the BH seat. On the gear DT model you will be in neutral so you can move it with the BH too..

NOt sure how far you are away from AL here is a dealer with the 2501 and 77 BH $23,500

L251 LOADER BACKHOE PACKAGE | Packages | Beshears Kubota

As far as a trade on your B probably not a lot, an if it were mine, I would keep it and buy a 4' rotary mower or brush hog and keep the BH on the new 2501. More flexibility.

I had a L185 DT with loader 1988 model and 3 PT BH that I rebuilt the Hyd cylinders and repainted the whole tractor, and I traded for the B21 TLB series with the HST after using the L185 for 3 years - huge difference in capability and ease of use.

Most dealers will deliver - you are about 330 miles from their Opelika AL location. Also for service/warranty these don't need much and from my experience its usually something simple like a seal or cylinder that can be shipped.

You can use this to price locally too, and as I said - get a mechanical thumb for your BH77, and your 6100e 2WD is maybe $2500 so for that money its worth more as dedicated mower etc.

Can someone explain to me how the LA525FL that is advertised in this add L251 LOADER BACKHOE PACKAGE | Packages | Beshears Kubota differs in chassis from the L2501 DT that I am looking at purchasing?

Seems to me that I have read there is a heavier chassis over the standard chassis and maybe this is it????

I would like to get the most for my dollars

Maybe I misunderstood, Im thinking now the LA525FL is the designation for the loader.

So it seems there is no one heavier chassis over another?

All the L2501s are on a single chassis, as you call it, which is 2,700 pounds, bare tractor.

The L3301 and L3901 are 50-100 pounds heavier. Still the same chassis.

The next heavier Kubota models are the L3560 and three models in MX series, all 3,700 pounds, bare tractor.

Yes. 525 indicates Loader lift capacity is approximately, not exactly, 525 kilograms.

The only concern is that it doesn't have a live PTO; which you will miss if you are running a bush hog, rototiller, snowblower, wood chipper, or any other implement where you might want to slow or stop without reducing the RPMs or shutting off the PTO. JMHO but that's a rather stupid design by Kubota, and was a deal breaker for me when I was about to pull the trigger on a new 3301DT.

I don't know... I have a live pto on my MX and a clutch driven on the L3301, I don't really see much of an issue between the two. If I'm running my post hole auger I like the clutch better.

The L3301 and L3901 are 50-100 pounds heavier because of turbo engine + independent PTO. Still the same chassis.

FYI- no turbo on L3301 or L3901

The other consideration are the tires - Ag tires are standard and R4's are optional $400 or so more. Ags have better traction in mud etc., R4 are better for rough/rocky ground and industrial use. Ags will give you a little more clearance vs R4 due to the profile. R4 are easier on grass and lawn areas.

Either will be fine and in the Ocala area its mostly sandy soils vs NH lots of rocks and rough terrain so I prefer the R4 for my conditions.

No -- it's 520 kg, and this is the 5th revision to the loader. All Kubota loader model numbers follow the same code. I have the LA 524 on my L3200, which is the 4th revision. Same 520kg capacity.
