Sorry if this question has been posted before, if so, help point me in the right direction and i'll research it more.

I've been doing a ton of research, visited a couple dealers around town(Kioti/Mahindra).

I have a basic question, that I need some help on.

I'm looking for a 25hp tractor with loader and cab. The issue I'm having is I have yet to find a tractor that will allow a factory cab AND backhoe at the same time.
Mahindra I'd have to go at a minimum to a 35hp tractor. Like 1635 or 2538.

Are there other brands, Kubota, NH, John Deere that allow for a smaller tractor with cab, but doesn't utilize the seat of the tractor itself for backhoe operations? Or do I need to start looking at 35hp+ tractors?

In all my research 25hp is plenty enough tractor for what I need and want. 35hp+ would be nice, but I would prefer to keep size and weight down because it will make it much handier on my property. I want to be able to have cab for winter snowblowing, spring and fall usage(which is pretty chilly in my area), plus have the opportunity to not be prevented from working in the rain.

I have looked at the 26XL or 1626(have yet to look at other brands before actually buying), and thought maybe I could go with a sort side cab just for snowblowing and remove it for summer use(when I'd be using the backhoe the majority of the time).

Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.

Some cabs might allow for removal of glass. With that said the backhoe is a pricey option like 7k. Is it something you get the use out of. Really isnt worth buying for just one project or to use sporadically

Yeah I've had to rent equipment in the past on several occasions that would've been handled perfectly with a small backhoe. Drainage issues, installing a new basketball hoop, pulling out shrubs, fence posts, maintaining a MX track, and the list goes on and on. I did just learn that Kioti offers the CK2610 that can have a cab and factory backhoe. I may just have to go to each individual brand to find the answer. Dusty thank you. Looks like 2650 is an option from Kubota also.

Well in that case it might be even better than to rent backhoe attachments. I know EX's are about a thousand a week, thats an aweful lot of use to make up that 7k up front expense.

Google all the different brands and see what is available.

When I was shopping, the JD dealer made a big thing about bragging that the 1025R had a separate seat for the BH. They show a 'drop on cab' with heat only.

The other point though is that the cabs don't cover the BH seat. If you're in weather that would require a cab, do you want the BH on? They come off in just a few minutes in most cases.

Cab tractors for many with backhoes are outside the cab! The pits for trenching!!!

If you want a backhoe get it. Just the convenience of jumping on it and digging something up, landscape on a whim, pull down a small tree, so much you can do with it. People try and put a price on convenience, but my convenience is worth a lot more than what someone else puts on it. Besides, they are fun :)

I have never regretted my backhoe on my BX25D. It’s s useful for much more than digging. I’m thinking about upgrading and would strongly consider the B2650. I think the B3350 has emission garbage and has known problems. Kubota also has a factory cab option on the new BX23s. The rear window is removed to operate the backhoe from inside the tractor (seat swivels, no second seat on the BH).

Kioti has a field option cab available for the CK2610. Other than that and the Kubota I think most brands will push you toward a 35 hp or larger machine to get a cab. It's probably worth noting that the CK3510 is the same chassis as the CK2610 so it isn't any bigger and only slightly heavier.

Of course there is also the option of buying an aftermarket cab if you find an open station that otherwise meets your needs.

Owning a backhoe may not make financial sense, but neither does golf, going out to dinner or a movie, or, for that matter, contributing to your church.

Sometimes we do things because we want to, and really don’t need to justify those actions or expenditures.

I understand that way of thinking. It explains why many Americans retire in poverty.

I just purchased a new LS after surviving for decades without a tractor. I am retired, and needed something that would make it possible to live another 15 years or so in my rural environment. I could afford I,t but still ran the numbers and it made sense financially in my case. The backhoe did not make sense even though LS had a great deal on them. The cost, limited use, PITA factor to remove and attach, and space to store killed it for me. YMMV

Everyone has different needs and financial circumstances. It is good to hear the experiences/opinions of others so we can make better decisions. Decisions based on wants are typically poor ones.

I’ll give a recent backhoe experience: In the last several weeks, I recently dug a 210’ electrical trench to my new barn. All with the backhoe. Not the perfect tool for the job, but I didn’t have to worry about 40 mins of round trip commute to the rental places. Also, Home Depot is always out of rental machines and the mom and pop shop is only open from 8-2 Saturday, closed Sundays. So you have to rent for the whole weekend and then I’d have to worry about returning it Monday morning, and not getting my work clothes dirty in the process. A tracked mini ex would have been nice, but the anxiety of returning it would have been bad for the marriage. And $410+tax to rent for the weekend.

A trencher never would have worked. It actually would have cost me even more because I would’ve been been back for the MiniEx We pulled out several 400+ lb boulders along the way with the BH thumb. Then last weekend my wife decided she wanted to put some of those boulders in the front yard for decoration, or whatever (they do look nice). A couple of them were on sketchy slopes. But no problem for the BH and thumb to move them. Could I have moved them without a BH? Sure, probably, with either some more man power or dragging them with chains. But that would have taken much more time and greater risk of injury. Instead, it took maybe 90 seconds. And marital bliss was achieved.

I would guess I have a similar experience to the above every 4-6 weeks (on average) where I’m very glad that I have the BH. I might buy a bigger tractor at some point, but I will always have a BH either on my BX if I keep it or on a bigger machine.

Out of my $300 monthly finance payment, I estimate maybe 5-10% is paying for the backhoe. So owning a backhoe costs me $15-$30/month. In my opinion it easily pays for itself.

Lol got a laugh. Yeah its only 30 more a month for the next 7 years, mentality but yet nothing in a 401k and credit card up to their noses. loans arent bad things and paying cash isnt either, but we have been conditioned that another 10 bucks a month isnt a bad thing, which really is a bad thing.

yeah if use it, it make sense, and sometimes convenience is worth something. I think some including myself were only pointing out looking at logical use vs cost to purchase and own. 7k worth of digging is quite a bit of digging. Just for example I just had all the excvation work done for my 2000 sq ft house for only 4-5 grand, thats a lot of work to put things in perspective.

I will not argue with most folks reasons for not wanting a backhoe BUT the reality of it is that attachment and detachment of the LS and Kioti backhoe is not even close to being a pain in the A factor!

Heck you do not even have to remove the 3 point arms on them and it is only 2 pins that drop in and 2 lines to hook up. I honestly could not smoke a hole ciggy in the time it takes to mount and dismount the one on my Kioti.

I had a BX23s for a couple of years. I really wanted a cabbed tractor but the Kubota/Curtis relationship was slow to culminate in Canada. After using the backhoe for a total of about 50 hours, I was glad I didn't have a cab: the relatively short reach of the hoe meant frequent repositioning and I found the swivel seat mechanism on the BX to be less than ideal. Adding a cab would have it made a huge PITA. If I was set on a cabbed TLB, I'd want a separate seat for the hoe.

We get quite a bit of use from the BH and the FEL.

Another nice thing about the BH - even when we aren't digging, it makes great ballast for the FEL.

We have recently been looking at the RK tractors with BH and cab

Sorry, but that's not the half of it. The bigger reason is a result of people have that have that way of thinking but either don't care or don't bother to figure out if they can afford it.
