Share Pics of People Hauling or Towing Something Wrong

The pictures speak a thousand words. My experience with broken axels, shackles, springs, frozen bearings and blown tires tells me one thing. That trailer did not have enough toung whieght! This is not speculation just look close at the pictures and pay close attention to detail and it becomes appearent. The description posted in one of the posts about the trailer swinging solidifies it.

Apparently their granite slabs were undamaged. Can't say the same for the pickup....



From some other pictures it looks to me like they simply drove off of the road.
As you can see from streetview, this highway tends to have a lot of accidents....

From that photo it looks like the road washed out and following the white line led him into the ditch.

Wouldn’t be much better hooked to the trailer still just being strapped over the sheet metal.

Couldn’t guess how many generators I’ve seen arrive strapped over a sheet metal enclosure. Drivers tighten it just to the point of deflection then hope no one notices the damage. Meanwhile you’ve got 20,000 lbs running down the road at 60mph unsecured.

At least the load will stay together when it slides off the trailer.

I had started to think he needed steering brakes, but I think he needed more power and traction. Hopefully no one hurt. Probably a bit longer before that road was opened up to traffic. Jon

Just back the dozer off and use it to pull the truck back straight and then drive the dozer up the hill.

He had plenty of power and traction. So much so that it was twisting the front end off the ground. If he had more weight on the front to keep the steering tires on the ground he’d have probably been alright. He probably didn’t have trailer brakes that work in reverse either.

He can use the dozer to pull the truck out of the creek. That will make it easier for a wrecker to take it home. But I expect he would get a huge fine if he drove the dozer up the hill on the pavement, destroying it.

They need to send out another lowboy with better brakes. Load the dozer farther back where it doesn't lever the steering wheels off the ground. Maybe add another truck in front helping with the pull to get up this grade, since this one broke something (U-joint? Clutch?) pulling so hard.

I'll bet this 'permit load' - overweight for the pavement, and over width - was done without getting a permit and the impartial analysis that would have included.

Loading the dozer farther back would result in the truck loosing traction. The lifting the front end was a result of the trucks own toque and nothing to do with the weight sitting on the drives. I don’t think the truck broke. I think he quit pulling in an attempt to correct the steering. Adding another truck like a loaded dump truck would help a lot.

That or sliding the fifth wheel foward to put more weight on the steer axle.
