I picked up this vintage Made in Germany Henry Boker metal marking punch today.

One might even assume it was custom made for me

I'd love to have a iron worker, but I think if thay job came in it would have been a plasma table deal for me lol.

I agree. Water jet prob would have been best This way still beat drilling though.

Yup, drilling sucks. If I could chose 1 cutting process right now it would be laser. Maybe 1 day when I couple hundred grand laying around.........

I’m not sure if it’s a “getting old” issue or what. Sometimes the simplest things elude me. I already have magnetic strip bars located around the shop for keeping tools organized around benches etc..

But for some reason it was only yesterday it occurred to me to use these small round magnets for storing individual tools used for frequent adjustment on stationary tools. (Already had the magnets on hand which makes it even MORE bewildering.)

I’ll put a spot of glue on each magnet when I’m certain I like the location.

Anyone have tips to share?

For sure on the magnets. Have used them often, even to hold the jack handler on the picker. They seem to be made to close tolerances, have used them for spacers on the lathe chuck.

I hadn’t needed to check the tolerances. Good to know!

I’ve been using the small rectangular magnets on my drill presses to keep the chuck keys handy. Depending on where you mount them they’re prone to attracting swarm though. I don’t personally like attaching them to cables or light chain.

^^^I’m partial to the design and weight of vintage machines.^^^

A cheap magnetic tool holding strip mounted on a portable work bench.
