Tractor
BF Avery Model A
All right, long-time lurker, first-time poster. I've read a lot of archived threads along the lines of what I'm asking, but nothing recent.

I know, I know....we live in a global economy, and there will never again be a completely American-made tractor. I accept that and I'm okay with it. With that said, I still want to make an effort to support American manufacturing. My Chevy truck is comprised of parts made all over the world, but it was assembled in Fort Wayne, IN. I'd be happy to accept that kind of compromise in a utility tractor.

I am looking for something in the 35-55 HP range with a front end loader and hydrostatic transmission; it would primarily be used for property maintenance and light agricultural applications. There are features I like about New Holland, Deere, Kubota, Massey Ferguson, and Bobcat tractors in that category. Do any of these guys assemble their 35-55 HP tractors on this side of the pond?

My family farmed with Ford tractors for three generations before me, so I want to be a New Holland guy; but if their Workmaster and Boomer tractors are nothing more than Chinese-made tractors with an American name, I'd probably try to look elsewhere. On the other hand....maybe what I'm looking for truly no longer exists from any of the big-name tractors.

Any/all input is welcome. Where was your tractor actually assembled? Thanks!

I have read that Kioti tractors are built in the US.

What does the word assembled mean?

If you mean installing engines, transmissions, final drive and electrical harness fuel tanks and instrument panels,? I don't think any compact tractors are assembled in the USA. If you mean putting on the wheels/tires Installing front end loaders and backhoes ROPS and occasionally front axles as a unit then yes, almost all are "assembled" in the USA.

Where in America? I don't know about tractors, but many other products are made in Mexico... which is part of America.

Not 100% sure but I think John Deere and Kubotas are made here but the drivetrains come from Japan.

If you have the ambition and wherewithal to do some database searching...you can find US employment numbers for just about any company doing business here...

Funny how so few ever ask those questions of vehicles. I think, first and foremost, I would want to know where the engine was made and by whom. Then the tranny. Although the related electronic technology is becoming more critical for the reliability of the machine.

You didn't say where you are in your profile, but if you are around a Rural King their tractors are assembled in the USA, Ill. and Fla. I believe.

The little Steiners and Ventracs are QUITE american.

And when that isn't believed some still think Kubotas are built along side Kioties in the same plant, the owners of each after all being brothers! Just from a different mother, I guess.

So are Power Tracs. Made in VA.

Howerver, the OP is looking for more AG type machine, I think, and Steiners, Ventracs and Power Tracs are not AG type machines. Very capable machines in their own right. I think the Power Tracs are more versatile than the others, but the others are better at some tasks. The PT design runs circles around a conventional tractor in tasks like loaders, mowers, brush cutting, snow plowing, forklifting, post hole digging, etc... the things they are not good at is pulling brute force, like dirt plowing, or a hay bailer I'd imagine. So things like that have to be considered.

I believe the MF Compact and Sub Compacts are finished in Georgia, ie ropes, tires, loaders and a few other bolt on items.

Nearly all compact tractors are "finished" here in the USA. A few parts "may" be even made here. But not many. Kubota has an assembly plant in Georgia, but the main parts come from Japan. Engines, transmissions. etc. It has been decades since a compact tractor was completely manufactured here in the USA>

What are you doing with it? If not pulling a plow through a field I would take a serious look at Power-trac for a versatile utility tractor. I have both types of tractors and really like the Power trac for easy on and off, the quickest "Quick attach" I have ever used, simple to repair, the attachment is right in front of you and not over a long hood, I could go on....
