2LC, no offense, but what you describe is IMO an 'overblown process of quitting' that I avoided by
stopping instead out of stubbornness, which I say took about as long to do as what you wrote.

I did smoke for 50 yrs, but some may say I wasn't addicted. For those of us who have totally abdicated, others may say it was just so much easier for us than for themselves. (I had a smoking permit at SJMA when I was sixteen, that didn't help much.)
Richard, that I haven't touched, lit, chewed, or breathed tobacco or its smoke in 2 1/2 yrs is more important to me than some fancy label and a bunch of fanfare, back-pats, rounds of applause, or shouts of 'good job'. Smokers I know stay indoors, so I'm no longer in their company.
I concur that denying one's attachment is not quitting, that's for those who keep saying they're 'gonna quit' and haven't. I said I
wanted to quit for 40 years w/o the g word, just didn't make up my mind until I decided to lord my self control and the result over the Oakies & PHBs I live among.

I do my praying for others. God gave me
so much to do His work with on 05-01-1950.
btw, IMO pot doesn't taste any better than tobacco, and sucking steam is the 'false-quit' of the day. No thanks.
