I hate the "push button" 4wd actuators used in trucks now. My friends Dodge failed twice. My 04 Tundra still had a manual shift knob for engaging 4wd and low range but I believe all Tundras and even Tacomas now have push button. Which brings up another point; why no low range in 2wd? There are a number of instances it would be useful.
On the Rams there is a simple and inexpensive way to get 2WD Low. It's an adapter that allows transfer case to switch to low range but the electronic front axle lock (4WD) to remain off. I guess this is one of the benefit of electronically actuated components (your 'push buttons')... easy to mod them.
