I have HST+ the more you push the hydro the more fuel.

What he is referring to here is what some other manufactures call "linked pedal". Remember those Other more advanced Hydrostatic transmissions I referenced? Well that is one o the other functions of this advanced hydro. Linked pedal. Kubota doesn't call it that as I remember, but the concept is the same.

Hmm, on Kubota the morning you push down the less torque but more speed, never measured fuel.

BUT, you must remember the "more advanced hydros I mentioned in my "book". HST+.. Note the "plus". there are lots of advanced features with this hydro.

k0ua you mention, "If you live in Kansas with no hills in sight, then these things become less important. But keep them in the back of your mind."

The mental picture may be it's all flat land, but even then there are unforeseen holes a tire can fall into. How about pond dams, road ditches, any slopes at all can cause one to be caught off guard. And another thing to be cautious of is when working around trees, be sure all limbs are higher than the ROPS. You snag a good size limb with the top of your ROPS and you'll instantly be riding a bucking bronco!

Absolutely. I was just using Kansas, because people think of Kansas as flat. Of course it isn't all flat, and as you mention there are plenty of other things that can throw you for a loop. Yep a big limb on your ROPS will likely wake you up pretty quick. :) Garage overhead can do it too.. Tractors like any other kind of dangerous machinery require vigilance all the time. Others have mentioned PTO safety. Just one of the many ways you can get into trouble around a tractor. Pinholes in hydraulic hoses and the risk in hydraulic fluid injection is another. If anyone doesn't understand this, I can show you some pictures. I will warn you they are not pretty.

We had a tractor operator preventable accident a few years back. The operator was bush hogging and ran over some hidden wire. He did not have chains on the mower or a protective shield on his tractor. A piece of wire was thrown into the back of his head and they found him dead on the tractor going in circles.

Freakish! How did a projectile achieve that trajectory? Usually, the mower is too close to the tractor.

Many issues have occured when you box yourself in or don't give yourself enough room. Go up against a rock, building or tree and it's like you get sucked in and need additional equipment to get free without damaging anything.

Same with water and a slope. Go too close and you WILL get sucked in!

Loved your book and can’t wait for the sequel. However on the Kioti CK10 series the linked pedal is not associated with an advanced hydrostat at all. All it does is throttle up the rpms of the engine as you push the pedal. The hydrostat is the same as the tractors without linked pedal. There are similarities I suppose but in the end it is just the same as throttling up and down manually as you manipulate the hydrostat, rather than changing the hydrostatic function itself.

I love my wheel loader with the throttle pedal operating the hydrostat. And a left hand F N R lever on the steering sheel. BUT, it would be somewhat useless for PTO operation which mine of course does not have.

If you have doubts don't try it.
