Framing stopped because I am waiting for my SIPS panels to be made and delivered. Those are my exterior walls. Joists tie in the the rear SIPS panes. Tuen the rafters will be built and the roof panels will be installed. The SIPS walls sit on the exterior block and the roof sits on top of them. That is a lot of weight And I want the walls to be backfilled to make the foundation more stable and strong. I have been working with the SIPS company this week to finalize a few issues that we identified. They also had a solution for my j-bolt issue.
Thank you for explaining that. I get worried when I see a house partially framed and nothing happening. Especially with winter coming. There is a limit to how much rain the studs can take before they start to warp on you.
Why not get the OSB on the walls that are standing so you will be that much ahead? Are you going to use OBS? or plywood? or Zip System? If the walls are going to be exposed for awhile, Zip System allows you to take your time. It's also a much better material then OSB or plywood, but it also costs $20 a sheet plus tape, where OSB is $7 right now, but house wrap.
Can you frame any of the roof while waiting on the SIPS?
