Loader Updates to the DL100 loader for more lifting?

/ Updates to the DL100 loader for more lifting? #11
When I'm putting in a ground mount system I need to go over dips and valleys to get the panels to the site. Most of the time it isn't too bad doing roof mount systems as the ground is pretty level.

Additional ground clearance due to larger wheels and tires will make your transportation more secure and easier. Larger tires will bridge ruts, burrows, holes and construction debris that subcompact tires fall into or disrupt crossing.

To reduce the number of panels to be moved at one time is not very safe for the panel, from experience I tried it and had to wait to finish the install for new panels to arrive..not to mention eat the cost.
If you get SSQA pallet forks with B2650, which has a frame protecting the operator, then run a 3" wide, tension-adjustable ratchet strap around the solar panels and the frame, your panel load will go nowhere.

Five reasons owner/operators trade up from Subcompact Tractors:
More tractor weight.
More FEL lift capacity.
More ground clearance.
Three-range (3) HST (Lower LOW, Higher, HIGH) ~~ rather than two-range (2) HST.
Larger wheels and tires and longer wheelbase enhance mobility.

Jeff you make good points an a larger unit, but I choose this size for many reasons. One thing I do as a side line is install solar arrays. Thus the weigh of the machine is critical as to not chew up lawns and be light enough to drive over septic fields. So as KC asked what I'm moving around, the solar panels that I have been using come 10 to a pallet they of course are glass and metal frame. Each one weighs about 47 lbs, thus with the pallet and cardboard packing as they are packaged on edge that makes them about 550 lbs. The pallet is 4 ft by 6 ft, I come in on the 6 ft side so that I only have 4 ft hanging off the front. So when I'm putting in a ground mount system I need to often go over some dips and valleys to get the panels to the site. I agree with jeff9366, a SSQA system with a dedicated set of forks with a vertical frame might be the way for you to go?

That would put your loaded pallet about 18" closer to the tractor and maybe increase your lifting weight enough for your process.

Very good reply Jeff!

I too would like a little more capacity to my DL100 loader. I don't yet have my forks finished but dismissed SSQA due to the weight of the adapter. Moving the pallet closer to the pivot point will increase the carrying capacity but will cost about 80 lbs. due to the weight of the adapter which I thought made it not worth the effort. My home made adapter weighs about 10 lbs. It works well with my home made snow bucket (6 ft. wide) but I haven't gotten around to making the forks yet.

I have a similar challenge and I am looking to switch from using the loader (DL100) to the 3PH. More stability and and more lift capacity and safety :)

Something like this but maybe a bit cheaper I hope-

Somone on here that owns a Kubota BX23 took some old forklift parts and made their own 3ph forklift-had a picture of the BX23 lifting a full size pickup truck. :)

$$$$, OUCH...

With the 3 point lift they recommend the TX63 for subcompacts $2999, only, which weighs 273 lbs., and lift of 1103 lbs., total high of lift is 63".

I have been looking at the "TACH-N-GO" quick attach bracket for the FEL, bracket weighs 75 lbs., and the quick attach forks weigh 110 lbs. versus my MF bucket weighing 177 lbs.

It seems like price for these 2 items including shipping would be just shy of $2000.

The plus is when using the quick attach forks, a pallet is lifted closer to the tractor about the width of the bucket.

The drawback I see is when I would remove the forks and reconnect my bucket, there is an added weight of 75 lbs.

Our small tractors still have much lower lifting limits versus larger tractors and that will not change.

Hope this adds an option for someone and does not confuse this issue,

KC
