as they said above be very careful with aftermarket Hydraulic Transmission Filters as the Branson Filter are made specifically for their transmission and have a flow back valve inside the filter and if you put one on that doesnt have this inside of it you can burn up one or both of the hydraulic pumps or possibly cause damage elsewhere inside the Hydraulic system

"and have a flow back valve inside the filter".......do you mean a valve at the mating surface, like engine oil filters, that causes the oil to stay in the filter and not leak our when the engine is turned off and/or are you talking about a bypass valve in the bottom of the filter that allows non filtered fluid to pass through the filter if the filter media has clogged (due to the owner not changing it regularly) and the valve is forced open with this differential pressure and allows the oil to continue to flow thus preventing a pump burn up?

The two valves are clearly visible looking into the filter so the owner could ensure that the new filter looks like the old one before installing.

The second option i meant bypass valve, i was not in the right state of mind with my last post i had been up for about a day an a half trying to get moved into the new place, but yes i was talking about the bypass valve in the bottom of the filter.

One of the only places I found online to order genuine Branson filter NTB8030000B3 was at Sherwood Tractor Parts.
Branson Tractors OEM NTB8:(B3 Hydraulic Filter — Sherwood Tractor

They have all the filters. For a full set of filters it would cost about $90 to have them shipped to me.
Oil, Fuel, Outer Air, Hydraulic and Hydrostatic filters.

Something else to check on your tractor;
Many of the Bransons have a suction screen in the transmission reservoir were your suction line to the filters connect to.
Much of the literature fails to mention these.
Also some of them will have a magnetic plate in the sump.
The screen in my 8050 is accessed from low in the case next to the pto shaft,
the magnetic section was bolted into the bottom of the sump.
Also some will have a high pressure filter in the return line of the rear remote valves.

Oh man, hopefully not derailing the thread but I juts struggled with the screen issue when doing the HST/HYD fluid change last week. The 00 series service manual (page attached below) says...

1) When changing the transmission fluid, disassemble and rinse the strainer with nonflammable solvent to completely clean off filings. When reassembling, be careful not to damage the parts. 2) Since the fine filings in the oil could impair the component parts of the hydraulic system which is precision built to withstand high pressure, the suction line end is provided with an oil strainer. 3) Please do the replacing, of the oil filter cartridge and the cleaning oil strainer at the same time. And when replacing, reinstall the oil strainer first.

No photograph or detailed guidance of how to locate the strainer so I assumed my model didn't have one so I put the filters on and filled with oil. I still don't understand where this strainer is actually located or how you get at it on the 2400h.

I know it was a learning experience to find hydraulic strainer, first you have to remove the big filter you can see and then remove the cover that is behind the big filter and inside you will pull out a cylinder made of steel mesh, wash and clean it, mine had never been cleaned it was clogged badly, I assumed it didn't have one because you cannot see it with the eye. Because you have to remove filter in front before you can take cover off and get to metal strainer, the book says to do them at same time.View attachment 2910i filters 003.jpgView attachment 2910i filters 001.jpgView attachment 2910i filters 001.jpg Hope this helps.View attachment 2910i filters 002.jpg

Thanks sallyb!!! That dose help plenty! Do you happen to know if I can pull the screen without draining all the oil? If I yank the big filter and only a litre or two come out I'm okay with that.

I had changed oil and filter twice ,one right after the other,so when I finally understood where mesh filter was, I did not change filter or oil again, you will loose some oil of course but not all ten gals. . I did not drain oil out again when I found the filter and did not replace outside big filter again. It is frustrating and costly. Good luck, hope this helps.
