The igniter is also the flame rod which must be in the flame at all times to complete the electrical circuit, It may need to be bent a little to be in the flame. Check all electrical connections also.

You holding it on until Themocouple gets hot .....

Holding what on? The ignition is electronic and controlled from the thermostat. I don't see anyway to manually ignite and hold. The ignition keeps clicking after it ignites.

Being a sealed combustion, I don't even see the igniter or flame rod. Gonna have another look.

All sizes of Model UDAS heaters are equipped with a door switch which prevents the heater from operating when the service door panel is open. The service panel of a Model UDAS is equipped with a pliable gasket material that fully seals the door to provide added protection from building air entering the combustion zone of the heater.

You still may have some air in gas line. Purge real good, wait a few minutes and try again.

I'm aware of the door switch. Measured the inlet and outlet pressures with the door switch clamped. Tried starting with door closed as well, doesn't make a difference.

Will do. This is the only thing I can think of might be the problem but it seems odd that it quits as soon as the ignitor quits.

Interesting thread. I'm really shocked at how much profit the HVAC companies wanted to make off of your install.

When I had my aviation business a friendly competitor (really nice guy) he had a home heating business as well, offered to sell me at cost.
My daughter purchased a home and the gas furnace was very 'shaky' like read scary.
Well they went for quotes and they were all in the +/- $2- $3 K range.
As any good father would do I went to my friendly competitor and back came his 'at cost' price.

Believe it or not it was in the $300 range!
That's when I became a natural gas furnace installer.

No, in many industries mark ups are significant.
Seasonal and hobby, more so.

Well I thoroughly purged unit at the intake pressure port... vented out the garage and tried it again. Same thing. Ignition works, gas lights within a few seconds, but ignitor continues for its full 16sec (per spec) before it shuts off. Flame dies. Apparently the unit is not sensing the flame and is shutting off the gas at that point as well. Don't know next steps. More research I suppose.

:mur:

Yep, that's exactly what it's doing. Now hafta figure out why...….. Bummer..... Some stupid K.I.S.S. principle thing I'm guessing.
