I'm liking that story. Some don't understand that they aren't the only game around. Last time I shopped I was very specific about what I wanted. XLT Premium with 6.2 gas. An "internet sales manager" woman got back to me. Offered several trucks, all of which were Lariats, Platinums and King Ranches with 6.7 diesel and all sticker priced tens of thousands of dollars above what I was shopping for.
The guy who owned the dealership at the time is a personal friend, but I wasn't playing that card and acting like everyone else who knows him does trying to use the friendship for a deal. I just moved on to a dealer about 25 miles down the interstate and bought there.

My friends would appreciate me informing them that thier sales people were not listening to my needs and correct the situation. Most are retired now but a few still have a hand in day to day operations of thier business.

you can check out car guru .com. my parents and I have found exactly what we are looking for on there. we usually are looking for a specific vehicle.

They really want to move what痴 sitting on their lot, Not what the customer may want. I壇 do an online search, find what it wanted and call that dealer. You can work a deal online and then drive to get your new vehicle ( or if no trade do a fly n drive). Son just bought a new Gladiator for $4 k less than his local dealer wanted for the exact same truck! He had to drive 250 miles each way to get it, but for $4k it was still a great deal.

I normally do buy from what’s on the lot myself but have ordered what I wanted a time or two. The problem here is it’s thier job to order what you want or locate it if they don’t have it. Blowing smoke up your ? Because they would rather sell what’s on the lot isn’t acceptable to me and should not be an acceptable thing to anyone!
I can imagine the crap you will endure if you have any issues with something you buy from them.

Some dealers will put you way on the back burner with warranty problems if you purchased elsewhere. Quoting "We're booked up for three weeks, if you need it done quicker, take it to your selling dealer" Not supposed to happen, but such is life.

Those dealers like that around here are no longer in business. Seems thier poor customer service exists weather you buy from them or not. This is why proximity doesn’t matter to me, would I want them to work on my stuff? Absolutely not, they charge more, try to make extra with fake charges added to warrantee work and they usually screw things up more often than they get it right!
So if they talk to you like that you should say “ just as your customer service was bad enough that I first purchased someplace else, you are not learning from that mistake now and trying to earn my business back” then with a smile leave and return to the dealer who earned your business from the start.

I would say pick the V8 over the EB just because it would be easier to work on but ford is going out of their way to prevent people from having the ability to work on their trucks without dealer tools.

It's getting to where if you buy a truck to work on it, Ford just isn't a brand to be tinkering 'under the bonnet' by the side of the road with a Swiss Army knife anymore.

I keep buying trucks to pull trailers vs to work on them. ('84, '99, '12 Chevy 2500s) Sometimes one has to make choices, and I miss changing plugs and points.

My friend and his brother owned several dealerships but sold them all to a large corporate entity. They've since gotten a couple back but the Ford store is not one of them so I guess it doesn't concern me for now.
This guy gets calls all day, every day from so called friends looking for a deal. I just chose not to be one of those fair weather friends in this case.

Plugs and points?! Trucks shouldn't have those.

I've got a 94 and a 95 f350. Ones getting a 12V Cummins so I dont have to work on it anymore engine wise. My work/farm truck has CR cummins which I am skeptical about coming from a 12V but atleast its pre emissions.

i bought two f150s in a row a 15 and now 18. you can get the same truck in xlt for a lot less short of leather, same truck in terms of bells and whistles. My 18 actually cost more than a lariat but priced out better at the register. Two dealers have confirmed that with me, same thing with an explorer it prices out better than an edge dollar for dollar.

With that said i noticed some comments about dealers lying, that might be some it, but in general the salesman dont know their product is the problem. Dealers always want to sell lot inventory or do dealer trade before they make an order for you as well. typically there is one guy that knows something at each dealer just have to find him. I pretty much order every truck for the reason that I get the things I want and dont over pay for things I dont need, d ealers like to say well its only another 20 a month for something I dont want or need, yeah and thats 240 bucks a year times whatever the term is.
