No matter what caused it, it's a dealer issue now.

It's not a good design either, maybe adequate but less then I would expect from a tractor that size from a major manufacturer.

Looking at the pictures I don't see any pre-existing cracks or damage to the cast mount, is it possible that the 3pt bound up when raised/lowered?
As many of these tractors are out there I wouldn't think this is a common issue. I have to believe some excessive force broke this, either during your use or before you recieved it.

I looked around and several compact tractors use the single end supported post design (which surprised me.) My 'Bota B2150s are that way BUT the pin is twice as thick and the mounting is in mild steel plate, not cast iron. You might bend it but you ain't gonna break it.

Meanwhile I got input from a very experienced MF tractor man. He has seen this same failure on other 1735M's. He viewed the pictures from the new owner here and said it was typical of this failure. All the ones he has seen were due to side forces (often because of 'loose' sway bars, who knows how snug is snug?) and other assorted kinds of side force. The good news: AGCO (Massey) has been backing them 100%. Every reason to believe they will back this one too.

How can MF let that design of 3 pt mount leave out the factory is beyond me. I mean, the 3 pt is supposedly the main feature of a tractor. It's meant to pull, push and lift implements. If it can't handle all the forces involved, is not worth much.

It sure is nice that MF is standing up 100% but, are they going to replace it the housing with the same design? Or a improved design that supports the pins on both sides?

That design wouldn't last 2 seconds with the spading machine I used on this job: https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums...ve-you-done-your-post5754052.html#post5754052

The design failure is the mounting point, not that it's supported on one side, it's no point flagging all those designs as bad.

I don't think anyone is saying all single shear designs are bad, however in this application it is.

when I looked at this, first thing that came to mind is how much more expensive this heavily worked/torqued piece would cost if they made it
out of steel instead of cast iron? And then I read: mounting is in mild steel plate, not cast iron. for another tractor with zero problems. Hmmmm.
Definitely a better way...cast iron is the old mainstay for tractors but gosh in certain areas, they need to up their game. Surprised Massey hasn't changed spec on this.
I've had three Masseys and they all were bulletproof. Smallest one was an Iseki, is that what this one is?

Must be cast steel on such a part, cast iron is way to brittle.

Cast iron, cast steel I have no idea. It is clearly cast. To me all castings are brittle compared to mild steel.

def. a bad place for such a high stress mount, if they replace it with the same design, Massey must reinforce it somehow.
