It sure looks like iron to me. If it were mine, I would fab up a steel weldment that bolts to unused tapped holes that would support the other end of the pin.

Chain binders can put incredible stress on equipment when not used properly. It wouldn't surprise me if it happened during transport to or from the dealer.

Again, does the dealer have any idea that this tractor broke?

Sorry, I have a store to run during the day. The dealer is going to fix it. No time table yet so I'm going to do what I can without it for now.

That was my thought as well. I'm hoping there is some sort of reinforcement that can be made to strengthen the mounts up a bit. Actually hoping Massey offers this up without asking.

You'll have to advise as to the final outcome and what the dealer replaced the rear case with (another of the same design or an improved 2 point mount). In retrospect both my Kubota M9000's which are really ag tractors and Cat 2, are single point mount (like your Massey is) but the mount isn't sticking proud of the case casting like yours is / was. The mount is down low and within the case casting (cast steel) with reinforcing ribs radially spaced out around it. Never had an issue with either.

When I saw that broken lug, I immediately thought it was sticking proud on the main casting, just waiting to break off... and it did. Why I said poor design in a earlier comment.

That nice sharp, stepped shoulder machined into the hole doesn't help either.

MF list the front axle as cast steel, haven't found any info on rear axle material.

Get involved with the dealer now as to expectations and get paperwork on work performed. Find out what the dealer is thinking.
