Sounds like blown head gasket. Can cause major motor damage with continued motor operation

I bent a grade 8 1/4-20 bolt that was used to mount the flange. But I got it off. The solution was a bigger hammer! Put as much pressure as you can on the puller, then just beat the **** out of the center bolt you're pulling on.

I broke everything I threw at it until this point, but it's safely off. By safely i mean in reusable ocndition. I need to reuse it, toherwise it'd have gotten the beating of a lifetime, not the gentle treatment I gave it. I need to make a new shaft and plate adapter for the new engine so I can keep the variable speed.

Next up is the 4th engine mount bolt. 3 are off, but that 4th... I had to dig for 20 minutes before I could even see it, and I have to take the starter off to get to it.

Engine out, hydro pump off, getting the engine mounts/plates for the new engine ready.

So, what issues lie ahead?

  • Motor Mounts
  • Clearances
  • Hydraulic Pump & Plumbing
  • Radiator & Fan
  • Muffler
  • Linkages
  • Access (oil filter, drain, etc)
  • RPMs
  • Clutch/Belt/Alignment
  • Fuel Pump & lines

I hope you don't run out of projects, because you are fun to watch.

Motor mounts are easy, hydraulic pump/plumbing is easy, radiator/fan is easy.

Clearances are tricky. I have to find a half inch. The motor is 21" and the wall to the belt pulley is 20.5". Last I checked motors weren't very pliable, nor bobcat frames. So I may have to get creative.

The funny thing about this is it's a hose to the fuel and a pulley. No clutches, they're in the chain cases. Belt alignment is really the only hurdle I need to figure out. And I can't really even start on that before I get the engine in for a test fit, which means mounts come first.

If I run out of projects, I think I would immediately die of boredom. You might like my kubota cab and power steering threads. But as time goes on it seems i'm getting more ambitious. And I don't like paying people to do something I can do myself. And I'm learning more stuff.
