Extending how far the water falls off of the building will create splashing when the water hits the ground. This can cause erosion, and actually put more water under your walls.
gutters are what I would use.
Most of the length of the building has a tarp under the base of crushed red brick so I'm not concerned about erosion so much.
Another idea I have it to put down a layer of plastic to seal the bottom and another layer of crushed red brick to help disperse the run off.
