. Yea - Newbury, it probably ground a few thousand miles out of them. It sure kept the "kids" from doing donuts and burnouts. It gave me a moment of thought - if I happened to go down on my motorcycle - it would be like sliding down a carrot grater.

Around NE Mississippi about 8 years ago they got a bunch of money for improving secondary roads. One of the counties would send out a crew that stripped the top few inches of the old road and right behind it, then or the next day, would be a crew laying down new asphalt. Another county would send out the stripper crew and leave the grooved pavement for months. I thought a tire dealer bribed them.

It doesn’t make a bad layer on top of what is already a solid base. It has less dust and doesn’t get all gooey during freeze thaw. It does not pack down well and will scatter though.
