A woman and her BF, that were just closing on a neighboring property, put a chain across the road on their easement that is on my property. I went over there to camp and saw that chain...I was miffed. I called the real estate agent and said they better get their chain down or I will cut it myself. They lived maybe 2 hours away and showed up later that night. They apologized and are now great neighbors.
Their title company figured out there was no documented easement across my property. I figured that out when I bought the place but the old timer that lived there at the time was a great neighbor so I said nothing about it. He passed away a couple years later and I wanted to buy it but his widow wanted about 2x what it was worth. She eventually realized her kids weren't interested and called me back maybe a year later wanting to know if I was interested and I said no.

You will be happier if you don't ascribe improper motives to otherwise normal behavior. I don't know if the work area was on the way to your house, or if he was just interested in some aspect of what they were doing, had questions, offered to help, or whatever - but I would not be upset by what you describe.

Over a few months of visiting my daughter I continuously noticed an older guy working really hard on a top to bottom gut and remodel. I did not know if he was the owner or a worker. I walked over and complimented him on his work ethic - saying something like you are putting all us older guys to shame as hard as you are working. We had a nice chat and then I left. I found out later he was the owner. Didn't matter.

Without reading past the first page... I see nothing wrong... Neighbor Guy comes over to say hello... how can he know which person owns the place or is site boss. So he speaks to the first person available and finds out. Friendly neighbors are and should be welcomed.

Agree. He could be missing out on a great friendship over a misunderstanding about nothing. I wouldn't be back so perhaps that was the actual point of the OPs post.

Specially if the neighbor reads tractorbynet

You should have read past the first page. It was explained later.

I had much rather make a friend than make an enemy. I would go out of my way to be friendly to folks.

The Wife and I have been considering a move back to West Texas. 57 years in Alaska is enough, we've been thinking. Tired of the cold, darkness, exorbitant prices for everything, and lousy fruits and vegetables. We hope we would be accepted in to a new community or what's the point? We would bend over backwards to get along.

Doofy consider the Ozarks. Good weather and mostly friendly neighbors. the only ones watched closely, usually have Michaign plates
Bought a small plot of land next to our property. mostly to get the old trees for timber.
after the survey met the next-door neighbor and he had lived in a shanty type home .nineteen years and I had never met. didn't even know anyone was living in the house. Had to explain to him his underground storm cellar was not on his land but to continue to use if needed. just don't lock the door should I need to find a hidy hole if in the area.
Been 2 years now and have not seen him since.
I like quiet neighbors.

All I can say is I am glad Chuck isn't one of MY neighbors.
