Most insurance won't cover theft if the key is in it...

Not to shoot the messenger, as you are probably right. Yet I use a key for my 2015 Kubota which came with my 1984 L275... and also bring it when visiting my mother so that I don't have to borrow the key to use the 2008 L2800 which was my father's last new tractor.

No matter what type or size tractor you end up buying. There will always be times when you wish you had a bigger/smaller tractor.

I take the keys out on my MF , but not the lawn tractors- don;t want the kids touching the MF with a key in it, so purely for safety.

No matter where you need dirt for a fill, it will always be far from the fill pile.

Yep, had a neighbor that left all the keys in their tractors and 4 wheelers, a few years ago several were stolen while they were on vacation. Insurance said sorry about yer luck and paid nothing because the keys had been left in them.

Tractors, UTVs, whatever will go in the building without leaving a trace and come out shedding dirt (off the tires) all over the place!

A flail mower is the best scrap metal finder on the planet.
A rototiller is second best.
True on both. Ask me how much fun it is to remove 1/2" wire rope from a flail mower found when mowing a new piece of land. Then ask me how new were the side slicer knives that were in that flail.

I worked for a gravel company. Just about every dump truck driver of every company knew where the keys were hidden on loaders and excavators at unmanned pits or job sites and/or had a set of; Deere, Cat, Volvo, Hyundai, Hitachi etc. keys in their truck.

You can go on internet and buy a full set of keys for all construction equipment. Almost all tractor keys fit all of the same make of tractors. Some of the newer construction equipment is starting to require a code to start it. But I do leave my key in my truck and have to go back for it.

And every time I have a big job to do, I forget to put fuel in it.

I try and keep my tanks full, but it never fails, in an emergency, the needles willl read empty. And somethng parked in front of my fuel tanks. And the battery that runs the 12 volt pumps in need of recharge!
