Thanks. It makes sense now. I just missed the parts about you're future plans to build the garage while following the building of the house. Nice to see it all coming together!!

20020725 garage foundation

Walls tarred. Created a 5 ft wide basement under the transition to the garage.

20020725 more foundation pics.

Decided I might want to brick up to the siding, so I laid 4” block up from the footer to grade. My first time laying block.

20020801. Garage addition

Back filled most of garage walls.
I think I used my neighbors tractor for some of the gravel moving.
IMG_6955.JPG. I only had the MF without a FEL at the time. Did use my blade on my tractor to smooth out the dirt inside the garage.
Installed an underground drain pipe from front of garage to back yard along the footer.

Bricks were cut using a masonry blade on an old circular saw. Messy and dusty but it worked.

Very nice job on the bricks!!! It's amazing how much concrete work it takes to build anything there.

20020817 prepping for concrete.
Porch addition. Gravel got compacted afterwards.
IMG_6970.JPG
Originally was going to honeycomb the floor, where there would be thicker concrete down to undisturbed soil. Concrete guy said too much concrete. They recommended 4 piers down to soil, and fill the rest with gravel.

Basement slab was pinned with rebar into the original basement wall. This 5 ft wide garage basement floor is a foot higher than the house basement slab. The original house footer drain is just below this slab.

What do you use the small basement for?

I envision a fruit cellar?
