Kubota M7060 Problems ???

Kubota's wet pack travelling clutch arrangement is basically bulletproof and lock up pressure is externally adjustable as well. One of mine had 6000 farming hours on it and it's just as tight as when it was new. In my opinion, it's one of the best power transmissions out there. All the efficiency advantages of a gear drive transmission with the convenience of a wet, non wearing clutch. Other than a CVT, it the second best option for farm and loader work.

I don't mind the lock up lag at all. That lag eliminates drive line shock. No clutch in the bellhousing either, just a damper plate.

I've bought my Kubota M6040 - brand new in 2009. It has hydraulic shuttle shift. Not a moments problem with the shuttle shift or anything else on the tractor. I would suggest - forget about potential problems and just enjoy that new tractor.

Yours is new. One of my M9's is a 2002 and the other is a 2004. Got 'em both new and I've never had a major issue. In fact, no issues to amount to anything.

Thank you all for your helpful info. So if I am hearing this correctly it sounds like you all have this delay/hesitation on the hydraulic shuttle when reversing? I would suspect that if there was a problem with these it would be all over this forum.

Mine will jerk pretty hard if you don't pause in neutral, or drop the engine revs when reversing. So I wouldn't say I have any delay.

Well I went to talk to a Kubota dealer mechanic this AM and he confirmed this shuttle engagement hesitation is a Kubota clutch problem. He has already repaired a few of these which require splitting the tractor. He says usually they have more hours. So unfortunately, even though I am favoring a Bota, I am going to look at other brands. Now I question if this is a problem with all of them that have a hydraulic shuttle? :-(

Or maybe you have found a Kubota dealer adept at convincing customers that a high dollar repair is the best/only option to a concern that may or may not be valid.

We have had more New Holland T4.75's in the shop in the last 4 months with serious directional clutch pack problems than we have had Kubota M series tractors with similar concerns in the last 4 years. We are dealers for both brands.

I have 2 of them. Perfectly normal as the wet pack travelling clutch has to pressurize. On fact I prefer it, much less driveline shock.

Me too. My 9540 acts the same way. I accept it.

It seems you are trying to talk yourself out of this tractor. And it has worked. Good luck with your choice. Post your end result.

I understand that there's a critical adjustment to the directional lever linkage, and not exactly "hitting the right spot" can cause direction change hesitation.
RickB , anything to this?

I have nothing to offer on that. In my time at this Kubota dealer we haven't taken a call or written a work order on an M series hydraulic shuttle. And not because of a lack of these tractors in our trade area.
In his post 5030 references adjustability of the clutch lockup pressure. Without digging into the relevant WSM I'm prepared to take his comment at face value.
